here's a beautiful sunset from the other night - the clouds looked like they were glowing!
have a gander at my new cabinet - i just love it!!!
and here it is with the table set up again.
when you live in such a tiny place, you really have to try and squeeze out as much storage space as possible! and now with this new cabinet, the food saver, dehydrator and juicer are no longer on the bedroom dresser - SCORE!!!
here' some delicious baked potatoes that we had last night - oh yummeh!
one half is broccoli with homemade cheese sauce and the other is fried mushrooms with a cream sauce. we shared them as that was one big baked potatoe!
this morning, with baked potatoe, broccoli and mushroom left over, i fried up the potatoe, mushroom and broccoli and tossed 2 eggs on it. a good breakfast for my cabinet-installing man!
and surprise of all surprises - a little baby tomatoe! my tomatoe plants are full of tomatoes but none of them have even started colouring yet! this little guy came of nowhere!
the rule of thumb for saving seeds from your plants is to save the seeds of the bestest/fastest growing plant. i should have saved this little guy for seeds since he was so far ahead of all of the other tomatoes. we couldn't help ourselves tho, we brought him in, cut him half, salt and peppered him, and gulped him down. he was delicious!
Nice looking cabinet and tomato!!! I bet he screamed the entire time you were cutting him up though :)
ReplyDeletePioneerP - thanks so much! i looove my new cabinet. and ya, that poor tomatoe must have been screaming....we were too busy making drooling noises to hear him!!!
DeleteHey, save some breakfast for me. You married a very talented man...tell him I said, well done.
ReplyDeletedear sweet one - there is always breakfast, dinner and supper for you, with snacks in between. git yer butt up here!
Deletejam really appreciates the compliment - thanks Stephen!
My breakfast was similar to yours today, but part of mine came from a frozen food bag. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteMr. Smythe - it sounds like you had a good breakfast then. did you have frozen broccoli? i like frozen broccoli when fresh isn't available.
Deletewow....great pictures.
ReplyDeletethanks Warlock, i appreciate it buddy!
DeleteYou are a great cook. I get hungry looking at the food you prepare.
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen looks top flight. You really do have your own little Manor. I think you two have about everything in the world a person could want.
Harry - i really enjoy cooking and ever since retiring, can now research a lot of recipes, figure out what i like and change the recipes, and then practice. i think the practice is very important. i always loved cooking but when you work 10-12 hr days you just don't have the time. but now i have plenty of time and really do enjoy it. there's always extra for you, buddy!
Deletewe finally have all of the kitchen stuff in the kitchen. it has taken a while for us to be able to do some "prettying" jobs at the Manor. we really do have everything that we could ever want. well except for gutting the kitchen and re-doing it, building an extension for a proper-sized bedroom and adding a sunroom. it will take years but that is our dream anyway. thanks for stopping by, my friend!
Jam did an excellent job. It looks like the perfect cabinet for those small handman jobs like rebuilding the lawnmower engine! Such a shame to waste it on a food dehydrator in the kitchen!
ReplyDeleteEd - he says to say thanks buddy, to you! he is still pretty sore and hurting over your gorgeous workbench tho! i still say it's a buffet table!
DeleteThis looks great. And, unlike a cabinet you might pick up, it fit perfectly.
ReplyDeletethanks Linda! and yes it was built to fit there perfectly. the crazy thing is, since we installed it, it seems like it has always been there???
DeleteWonderful job. It looks terrific. Jam is so talented. The food looks fabulous. Now I want a baked potato !
ReplyDeletejam says thanks so much Jane! i am so glad to get all of the kitchen stuff in the kitchen - for the first time in 3 yrs if you can imagine that!!! go git yerself a baked potatoe gurl! and remember, if you come to visit, i promise to feed ya real good!
Deletethe cabinet is adorable. would go nice in my red/apple themed kitchen... enjoy it Gurlie
ReplyDeletethanks Gurlie! oh i love the sound of a red/apple themed kitchen! you need to take some pics and show us!
DeleteThat's a sexy cabinet (can cabinets be sexy?). Actually, this may sound strange but the cabinet looks very "retro" to me. Not sure if it's the color, the design, the handles, or a combination of all but it reminds me of some cool piece of furniture from the 50's or something. Tell J nice job! Wish I had that talent. :-)
ReplyDelete1st Man - with your fantastic eye - you nailed it! we have been trying to figure out what it reminds us of, and you are right - it is very retro-looking! good call buddy! and jam says thanks a bunch!
DeleteWow Jam, awesome job!! It's a thing of beauty. I can relate to living in small spaces so I know just how great it must be not only to gain some counter space but wooo hoooo at all that extra storage space!
ReplyDeleteHave a Super Day,
Sci
Sci, Gurl - you know allllll about small spaces and finding places to store things! and ya - extra counter space too - woohoo! you have a super day as well...although i know you are probably up to your eyeballs in tomatoes!
DeleteCabinet is gorgeous! Counter space is ALWAYS a Good Thing!
ReplyDeleteLamb - thanks so much! counter space and space to store stuff is something we are severely lacking here....but making good progress. it's a joy to have all of the kitchen stuff in the kitchen, finally! bahahahah!
Deleteok...all I can think of is how sinfully delicious those potatoes look. How is this possible when I love a good makeover transformation~and your cabinet is pretty amazing. Oh I am having potatoes smothered soon because of the photos you shared. Too bad the fair has me a bit busy or I would make em today!!
ReplyDeletethanks by the way for your sweet as usual comments. Sometimes I am humbled by your words my friend!!
oh Jen - those potatoes were almost too much for us - they were huge potatoes to begin with but with all of the stuff added - we couldn't even finish them! but we snacked on them all evening - bahahahah! good luck at the fair - i know that you will do well!
Deletei try very hard to be honest in my comments...you have blown my mind since i met you 10 thousand years ago...and you continue to blow my mind. and you are the perfect helpmate and humble wife, so of course you are humbled when someone acknowledges what strength of character you have! you are a true sweetie and i am glad for the years that we have already had together...and the years to come! much love to you and the DN crew, always! xoxox
Right back at you my buddy to the north. I did go to the store tho and buy some potatoes...man oh man potatoes are on my mind!
