Happy Canada Day to all!
Sung to the amended tune of "Oh Canada"ReplyDelete
How badly I have planned.
I should have been born on your lovely land.
From the gorgeous snows to the rivers that flow to Canada's three seas.
From the granite mountain tops to the blowing crops as far as the eyes can see.
Beautiful and free. You are more lovely than
Obamaland will ever be.
If you take ever take refugees, please think of ME.
Happy Canada Day !!!!
Jane, sweet dear Jane - you have already been made a canadian because of your sweetness. come up here, bring your family, we will hide and protect you for always! (i sung your song and all of the words worked out. i knew where to hold certain words. yer awesome!)Delete

Sir Winston Churchill once said:ReplyDelete
"There are no limits to the majestic future which lies before the mighty expanse of Canada with its aspiring, cultured, and generous-hearted people."
I'm glad to know two of them!
Happy Canada Day!
1st Man - thanks so much for that - we love our Churchill up here!Delete
and Happy Independence Day to you and 2nd Man! you guys will soon be living your dream, too, and we am so happy for you!
Happy, Happy, Happy Canada Day! I hope all your festivities went well, and that you did not party too hard.ReplyDelete
and what Jane said.. if you ever take in refugees... think of us.. : )
Gurlie - yer some of our favourite refugees - no worries there! and i hope that you and Senior and the boys have a wonderful Independence Day!Delete
We sang all 3 verses as our closing hymn in church on Sunday. It's something our congregation usually does twice each year (Canada and Remembrance Days). I can rarely sing it the whole way through, though, unless I concentrate on the alto line instead of the words. ;-)ReplyDelete
Sue - i often can't sing it the whole way through because of the beauty and meaning of the words!Delete
Hope you had a good day, we celebrate the 4th this week as well.ReplyDelete
Dear Duke - we had a bit of a down day as we were both sick with black fly bites. but, it was rainy out so we just flumped on the couch and watched netflix. all in all, not a bad day!Delete
a very Happy Independence Day to one of my favourite Americans! i hope that you get out there and some celebrating!
The fight over what to name the day was interesting. I suppose our date name for the day made it easy, otherwise we would have had the same type factions. I did get around to reading it all just now. I was busy and exhausted when you posted it, then kept forgetting, or remembered when I was again exhausted. I would never have known about that part of the history if I you had not posted the history of Canada Day.
