First Official Framboise Manor Nekkid Suntanning Day 2016!

this past friday was the First Official Framboise Manor Nekkid Suntanning Day 2016 - woohoo!

it was a balmy 10C with very little wind. we did our morning chores and then got out our pads for our loungers and laid on 'em butt-nekkid! it was wonderful!!!

and like we do everyear - we sunstroked ourselves! jam's a little pink but at least we aren't sunburned!

we were back out on saturday to a balmy 6C but at this time of year when the sun is so high up in the sky - it's awesome to take an hour or so and just lay out. we suntroked ourselves again.

here is my trimmed rosemary, thyme and sage to be made into a smudge brush for us.

here's 16 beautiful pints of mostly bone/meat broth but with some veg. i made it over the past 4 days and we canned it this morning.

we had some leftover and had it for breakfast. it's very strong, very bone-y tasting - deelish!

and remember them strawberries? they got blitzkreiged with fresh mint and almond milk.

and then chilled in the freezer for about an hour. deelish!

today is grey, misty and windy - still ok for the hottub dips and there will be many. jambaloney has been working on a variety of things today - he cleaned the basement while canning our broth, worked on his contract and a bunch of other little things. he's back working on his contract right now and will be in to work on-site tomorrow. so far, the system he built from scratch is working extremely well with only a few glitches that he fixes immediately. you have to expect a few glitches when you build something from scratch and have go right into production. makes me so proud!

the other good thing about his work is that they all treat him very well. he's "pirate jambaloney"!

well that's it for now kids. off to make that hard-working man some dinner!

  1. I hope you had your sunscreen on! So if you have guests around do they get their own sun loungers? You know I'm just thinking of the hygiene issue. Ha ha. :D

    1. Joey - we have a big old rusty fence at the bottom of our 130 drive up to our house which you can't see from the road. we have had exactly 8 visitors to our land - including 4 UPS guys delivering mail an 2 drunk guys with shotguns thinking they would hunt on our bare land. which leaves 4 visitors we actually invited and dressed for.

mate, i guess by now you have realized that we aren't the visitor kind of type. as has everyone in our 2 communities. we just aren't big on entertaining nor visitors. and people around here respect that. we live in absolute wonderland that way!

      sending love buddy! xoxox

    1. kirsty - all of our friends respect our privacy and make plans with us 3 weeks in advance before they stop by. we love our neighbours and friends. although the year that kenny and annie walked up our driveway, banged on our front door to do the census, while we were in the hottub and jambalonely had to put on my flowery robe that was waaaay to small for hijm - they didn't even blink. they filled out the census and went on their way. many stories were told in our 2 communities tho. and kenny still asks me at every dance why i didn't come out to take the census. even tho i have told him a million times that jambie had my robe and i would have had to come out naked. yep - that story keeps getting told all around the island - bahhahah! oxoxxo

  3. Prolly not the wisest of writing styles to go right from nakid sunbathing to introducing things you been trimming before the readers can scroll all the way down. Just sayin :)

Oh and what exactly does bone-y taste like?

    1. oh whatever, ya nutter! we were nekkid sunbathing and then trimming HERBS!

bone-y tasting is like a broth that is made mostly from bones, in this case, chicken carcasses, rabbit carcasses, and all things beef. i didn't put a lot of veg in which makes the broth more sweet. i also dumped in half a bottle of apple cider vinegar which really pulls out the calcium and the marrow from the bones. so that's what makes it a more bone-y broth. xoxoxo

    2. I have used your bone broth method and it simply rocks the house!

    3. that's great Fiona! we use a lot of broth in a year so i always save all of our bones and leftover veg. i find that if i use too many veg, and have done so in the past, that the broth comes out a little too sweet. we like our broth bone-y tasting! xox

  4. I thought the same as pp with the trimming! I'm uping my herb productions and I've decided I'm growing a rosemary hedge as I use so much of the stuff.
I like the look of your bone broth, we had a ham and leek soup today and used the bone from the hock, it gave it so much flavour!

    1. Kev - our rosemary keeps re-seeding itself all over the yard. if you want a hedge of rosemary it will be too easy to do - just keep saving your seeds every year and plant them where you want them in your hedge.

and oh yes - i love me some ham and leek soup with the hock! xoxox

  5. That reminds me of a story that you may have heard before. I used to have a neighbor that started each day with a naked pee off the back porch. One morning, a city-slicker friend of his came walking down through the pasture field and asked if it was still okay for him to fish in the creek. Jim just waved and told him to go ahead and finished what he was up to. Then there was also the morning, just BEFORE daylight when he forgot that he'd attached the end of the electric fence to the corner of the porch, so the cattle could graze off the garden. That got"things" a buzzin!"

  6. I had no idea this was a holiday....

And I am with Preppy - going from complete indoors to complete outdoors in one day is not great. Even here with the summer coming on, we have to pace ourselves...

    Much Love, TB

    1. TB - it is always a holiday around here at Framboise Manor! every april we wait for that first absolutely stunning sunny day to celebrate our ritual. and you have to remember that even in winter, we go outside for our walks regularly. on sunny winter days we try to be in t-shirts and sit outside for 15 mins with our pantlegs pulled up and our t-shirts pulled up. it's cold but worth the vitamin d!!! xoxox

    2. 1st Man - it's a Canadian/Texan holiday from what i hear - bahahah!

do you know what a smudge-brush is, and what smudging is? her - is a wikipaedia link for you:

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smudge_stick

we have been finding that the more time we spend up here in our natural environment (we use as few chemicals as possible), when we leave the property to go an event, or someone's house, but especially when we go to the grocery store or walmart or whatever - that we get home we get sick it has been getting worse over the years. so i making cleansing smudge sticks for us to strip off and smudge each other before coming in the house. hope this makes sense. if not - just yell! xoxoxox

  8. That bone broth looks delish as does the strawberry soup. Reminds me that I need to get my bones out of the freezer & get busy myself. And, so glad it's warming up for your nekkid time.

    1. DFW - i have made the strawberry soup with almond milk, cashew milk, coconut and soy (we've been off dairy for months now). we like it best with almond milk. and we are looking forward to this weekend as it looks like it might be just gorgeous out - woohoo! xoxo

  9. I admire your nekkid suntanning. I have absolutely no tanning genes within me so I am either mayonnaise white or sunburnt red. Skin cancer also runs through the fair haired members of my extended family of which I am one so I generally don't stay out in the sun exposed without protection for any length of time. I imagine if I laid out nekkid, I would look like a scaly swamp monster with my peeling skin by weeks end. Not a very nice sight.

    1. Ed - some people really don't have tanning genes! and with your heritage and the fact that skin cancer runs through your family, it's a good idea that you stay out of the sun. funny thing - jambaloney was never a "suntanner". he would bike all summer long and get brown arms and legs but wore sunscreen and sunglasses. so i slowly introduced him to going full bare for just 15 mins or so a day. then got him up to half an hour, an hour, the whole day - you get it. but i keep my hawk eyes on him making sure that he has his sunscreen for his face and if his back starts getting a little pink i make him put on a light shirt and shorts.

strange fact about me - i don't recognize my own arms, hands, face, body unless i am bronzed by the sun. xox

  10. That's the best way to celebrate a new season (a season without snow, that is...) I'd consider it, but I would be afraid that I'd scare the sheep.

  11. As to your nekkid suntanning....MAY 1st is farm nekkid day in some bolder farm communities....gotta flaunt that farmers tan:}.

The vitamin D from sun is the best for you and more effective than any amount of synthesized Vitamin D. But it free no drug companies can make money of of it.

    1. Fiona - you are so right about free vitamin d and getting it regularly. that's why even in the winter on sunny bright days, we go out wearing as little as possible. xoxox

  12. Yummy looking bone broth and I love naked (or semi naked) tanning, too! Problem is, so does my neighbor. Meaning he likes it a little too much when I do it so I don't dare go out there without covering my modesty now haha. :)
