well for most of february we had beautifuls sunny days! then we had a dismal and grey march for the last 3 weeks. april started off beautifully....
but the last 2 weeks have been more grey and dismal! bleck! haven't started ANY seeds and the ground is still too hard for potatoes or onions. one great thing tho is that all of the garlics are popping up! woohoo! and all of the garlics we planted last fall came from our own bulbs - exciting stuff!
more exciting stuff - jambaloney goes in to the licquor store in our big city every 3-4 months. because he is always friendly with the tellers and because he always buys raffle tickets and then tells the seller or teller to put someone else's name, someone in the city who could use whatever is being raffled on - the manager always talks to him by name and always gives him some free stuff. we've gotten free baseball caps, t-shirts, shot glasses, beer glasses and this last trip the manager gave us these 2 cool coors light tocques. and based on the weather for the next week or two - we're still going to be needing them!
kids - don't ya just love poached eggs on spinach - yummeh!
well, try that combination blitzkreiged in the nutri-bullet and it's a whole nuther story. it's lumpy, gaggy mush. but i got to get a variety of nutrients in me on top of all of my juices and smoothies.
kids - remember how many times i have said i love mashed potatoes?
well how about baked potatoes with the middles scooped out, a ton of butter and spinach blitzkreiged in the nutri-bullet and again - more gaggy mush! if i can't bite into a blt sandwich soon - i will scream!
but my gums are healing up really well, one side more than the other because i had less teeth taken out on that one side so i have been doing "sideways" chewing of small pieces of banana and other soft fruits.
here's an awesome sunset from the other night.
and here's some delicious shepherd's pie...another of my favourite foods. that turn into a gloppy, mushy mess when blitzkreiged.
and look at the bass that jambaloney caught last year that we vaccuum-sealed and froze. can you even imagine how delicious that was blitzkreiged with the veg??? ga-rossss! but i force myself to eat it.
and just for your fyi - all of those plates pictured above are jambaloney's dinners and suppers. i wouldn't put you through the horror of seeing my blitzkreiged mush!
well, in backtracking and catching you up in my healing - i came home the first day from having the teeth removed and i was fine. ran around all week like a nut thinking i was healed. and then the big crash came. all of a sudden my jaws and gums were hurting like mad and i had no energy but i think that's normal after a major oral surgery. i'm back to feeling almost human again and well on the mend. and wanting to get some seeds started!
poor jambaloney's been work-work-working on his contract and crab season officially opened last week so all of our friends are back to work in this horrible weather.
hope you all are having a great weekend comin up!
It's a shame feeling sorry for you won't make you heal any faster, but that's all I can do! lol
ReplyDeletethanks for that Gorges. it just might work. xox
DeleteBoy kymber I think I would just be consuming milk shakes for the next three months if it was me....
ReplyDeleteok dingbat - what part of your lambing-azzled brain forgot that i went off dairy 4 months ago??? secondly - you have to suck milkshakes and the dentist told me not to suck anything through a straw - but to swish and swallow! so i am taking my probiotic green crap in almond milk every morning, a smoothie later, then blitzkrieged whatever dinner and supper i make for jambaloney. but a milkshake would be nice. at least it wouldn't be all gloopy! xox
DeleteBoy' sure doe look cold up there in the artic.
ReplyDeleteMy Beach Nut (nutter) friend says its real nice and warm in the low 80's on the Texas Gulf Coast.
The water temp is increasing and April is the month of the Portugese Man-O-War's invade the coast and that's nice because it runs all the tourists out of the water. My nutter friend says that the best way to cure a Man-o-war sting is with 'meant tenderizer' or human urine (no joke) tourists are always amazed at seeing 'Surfers urinating on each other' and now you know the reason why. Jellyfish stings are very, very painful and if you get tangeld up in Man-O-War tenicles it can lead to sickness, shock and hospitization. So drink plenty of fluids at the beach. A person's life my depend on it.
coffee - it's been a pretty mild winter and only gotten kinda cold lately - it'll pass.
Deletequestion - is your beach nut friend a friend of mine from another blog - if you understand my meaning? if so - tell him to contact me at kymberzmail@gmail.com
i've heard tell of the urinating thing from the surfers that come out our way. did you know that during the off-season we get a pile of surfers from australia, hawaii and the gulf coast. look it up. you'll be surprised! we get some really good waves up our way. but you gotta be made of steel to get in these freezing waters to surf - even in the summer!!!
I concur with PP...
ReplyDeleteI do love ya, but poached eggs and spinach? blek!
I hope you are feeling better soon, just think about that beautiful smile you will have when this is all over. .....
much love to you and Jam
Gurlie - read my reply about being off dairy for 4 months now. and getting my probiotic green crap shake thing every morning. and then blitzkreiging whatever food i make for jam. i have to do it in order to get my proper nutrients and heal up.
Deletepoached eggs and spinach are awesome! i love it! i pretty much love poached eggs on anything - yummeh!
love ya back Gurlie! congrats to the boys for their latest base hits and sending love, of course, to you, Senior and the boys, as always! xoxxoxox
I can't even imagine trying to force feed myself anything that's been blitzkreiged, except of course milk shakes as PP says. Good for you for getting those nutrients any way you can. You are definitely on the mend though & hopefully it won't be much longer.
ReplyDeleteDFW - i have to admit - it takes nerves of steel and a strong sense of purpose. did i mention i have a horrible gag reflex too? oh ya - there's that too - arrrghghgh! but i am forcing myself to do exactly what my dentist/denturist told to do. to a tee. and will be completely on the mend soon. thanks for building me and jam such a beautiful apartment/shouse - bahahahaha! xoxoxox
DeleteGood to hear you are healing well. It takes a long time.
ReplyDeleteSol - that's what the dentist and denturist said. and the denturist is almost gleeful that i can wait so long until he starts fitting me. he says that if i wait long enough, i'll be able to eat corn right off the cob. oh i love corn on the cob. and haven't been able to eat it off the cob in over 6 years! xoxox
DeleteSigh. Insert patient lecture about giving yourself time to heal here....
ReplyDeleteThe Spinach in potatoes looks good. The Ravishing Mrs. TB makes a similar dish called twice baked pototoes - basically you bake the potato, scoop out the insides, mix it with sour cream and cheese, and the replace it in the potato skins and bake them. The y are yummy!
Much Love, TB
TB - i got your msg loud and clear and know that you are right. i've learned my lesson, i think, and am trying to take it a little slower.
Deleteas for Mrs. TB's twice-baked - we do that too. but we have to skip the sour cream and cheese so use lotsa extra butter and then add bacon or spinach or broccoli - yummeh! xoxox
You have the same problem I do Kymber - want to get right back to where you were.
DeleteShe likes broccoli very much so perhaps it is in our future (and butter - so good!).
Glad that you are feeling better! - Much love, TB
TB - if you do the broccoli on the potatoes you MUST have cheese sauce to go with it! deevine i say. but we are off the dairy but that doesn't mean that others have to do without! broccoli and cheese sauce on the twice-baked. you'll love it.
Deletesending much love back buddy! and i would kill one of my cats for sour cream right now...but i have to stay off the dairy. so sad. sniff.
sorry - forgot to say much love back and thanks for the love!!! it goes a long way in the healing process! xox
DeleteSweet Kymber,
ReplyDeleteYou poor thing, making all this delicious food, and taking pictures. Soon girlie you'll be able to eat solids with teeth!!!
Healing time may take a while. Even though the outside looks good doesn't mean the inside is totally healed. Take it slow dear friend!!!
I can't believe you still have snow and the ground is frozen solid. I would definitely start my seeds in the green house. This way you'll get a good head start before the ground melts.
Sending hugs and love your way.
Sandy
Sweet Sandy - you know i will! i'll be eating corn off the cob come corn season - woohoo! and i promise to slow it down - i've learned my lesson!
Deletethe snow is all gone now and the ground has turned to mush - again. but we aren't going to get too excited yet - we could still get another huge storm. fingers crossed we won't. if not, we can get potatoes in the ground in a week or two.
we have everything set up to start tomatoes and peppers in the house first thing tomorrow morning - 55 tomatoes and 22 peppers...because we still have 13 pepper plants that we overwintered.
sending love right back atchya angel! xoxoxox
You guys are so sweet, putting other peoples names on raffle tickets, I could eat you all up!
ReplyDeleteteehee. Kirsty - every year at thanksgiving, christmas and easter there will be raffles for turkeys at every single little store/gas station on the island. jam buys tickets from every one that he stops in to and tells the person selling them to write down someone's name who could really use it. he's been doing this for 6yrs and they are almost - almost - getting used to him doing it. xoxoxo
Deletemush each item individually and it will be better eating. i speak from experience.
ReplyDeletedon't know how healed you are but my uncle tom gummed his food to death for years.
denturist may not want you to toughen your gums so ask him before trying it after healing is complete.
thank God for modern dentistry!
deb - i tried doing one thing at a time and for me it was worse - so that's why i take a whole meal and blitkreig it. i know a ton of people here who gum their food, some don't wear their top dentures, some don't wear their bottoms. my denturist is like a mad scientist - he was absolutely gleeful that i can wait for as long as he says until he starts my mold. he said that he has never had a patient in 20yrs that could wait for as long as he wanted them to. he wants my gums not only healed - but hard as rocks. and he says that although he will want to see me twice a year when i get my dentures - he believes that he will not need to make many adjustments and that if i follow all of his orders - that the dentures he will make me will last a goodly long time. i'm pretty excited by how excited he is.
Deleteand deb - you'll be one of the few who really get what i mean when i say that i could have waited another 5-10 yrs....but i don't know where the world will be in 5-10 yrs...which is why i chose to do this now. xoxoxox
I suppose it doesn't make it easier to eat with your eyes closed. It's interesting that all the ingredients and flavors are still there, but....
ReplyDeleteSusan - thanks for that kind tip. but been there and done that. it makes absolutely no difference whether your eyes or open or closed - it's still just really tasty, nutrient-filled, goopy mush - bahahahahah!
