TROUT!

jambaloney here!

i am sooooo sorry to have been away for so long - my contract ran into extra overtime and that is all i have been doing for months...

but i DID start fishing - 1st day i went was may 23 - that is the latest ever ... still... gotta love that tree

out on the river - an old friend..

ALWAYS carry an extra paddle

Hey there - first meal of the year!

up the creek ...

around the bend .. i had a real calming experience - familiar peace...

on the way back i nailed this 12' sea run

ominous skies - i don't care...

a great catch - i gave 2 each to my friends b and a..  but really, sweet sandy - they are ALL for you!!!

you have already seen this pic - k and i enjoyed teh big one... redder than salmon!!!

i have started some stuff around the house again so more gonzo homesteading post soon enough - oh wait - here is a travesty.....

nuts so rusted i had to saw off the handles...

and cut the  bolts with bolt cutters...

those new handles "sorta fit" this will do for this year - next time it breaks - i will replace with an industrial one, the rivets are popping out of the bin anyway...

so have a good late spring day - cheers all!

(pioneer p - where are you?)

  1. Hi J! :) Those are some nice looking fish! We haven't gone out yet, it's been so cold and since we don't have a boat, it needs to be slightly warmer for us to catch something by the shore. I can't wait to start some bass fishing. We got some ice fishing rods for our anniversary this year and we're going to put some 4 pound line on just for some fun crappie fishing on the public dock this summer. We just catch and release but crappie are fun. Enjoy your fishing!!!

    1. Hey Rain!

Crappies are really good eating - you should try them sometime!!

what do you catch from shore?

I hope it is warmer for you now - cheers!

    2. The crappies we get here are no more than a few inches long lol...we'd have to put them in hamburger buns! We're more into catch and release, haven't quite got to the point of killing them yet, but we need to take the plunge so to speak! When we caught trout last summer, it was our friend who did the deed for us and we still had trouble eating it! We've caught musky from our old place by the shore and this year we mostly catch crappy, small perch and small bass, though sometimes we catch a big bass if we're lucky, it depends on boat traffic and weather. It's a public dock. I can't wait until we have something a little more accessible!!

  2. Nothing soothes the soul like fishing. Even better when they're biting! We've managed a few outings (mostly Bass biting, the random Crappie), but in general the weather has not cooperated.

  5. Looks splendid. I would probably be more tempted to fish if we had trout here as well - alas, just bass and catfish for us (neither of which I am particularly fond of).
