calm before the storm!

it's a beautiful and freezing cold day!

the whole east coast is going to get blitzed by a doozy storm! thankfully, our little part of the island is going to escape the worst of it! we'll get some snow and some fierce winds but nothing like the rest of nova scotia is going to get!

but no worries kids - we had french toast for breakfast and everyone knows that pure nova scotia maple syrup can get you through just about anything!

pure nova scotia maple syrup is pretty awesome stuff - but not even close to the stuff that jam's step-dad makes!!!

we just finished all of our preparations for this storm - generator is ready, our 23,000 BTU kerosene heater is ready, candles: check, lanterns: check, tons of food: check. jam's been out in the yard tieing various things down and we've done a general sweep around the house.

to all the people in the provinces and states that have had serious weather advisories - we hope that you will be ok during the storm. it'll be an interesting couple of days, that's for sure!

  1. Snowing here, so most of us were sent home from work. Spending some time online and working over a story to send to a magazine. Hope you don't lose power or anything, but suspect that you're prepared if you do. Stay warm!

  5. Stay warm, stay cozy, maybe make some maple syrup cookies.
Not to rub it in, but, we are almost at seventy degree's here in Denver. Most of the snow is gone from town. I almost got out my cut offs, till I found that they don't fit now.
The both of you stay safe.

  6. Good to hear you have battened down the hatches, Kymber. It's a beautiful, sunny 65* here today. I planted blackberries! Stay warm and enjoy the view when it is snowing horizontally. (-:

  9. Entire East Coast? Speak for yourself! LOL North Carolina only catches the edge of it. Where I am at it's going to be rainy and in 40s and 50s over next few days.

Looks like Baltimore is going to catch it though, and that is below the Mason-Dixon line.

  15. Sweet Kymber,

I know you and Jambaloney are prepared for this storm. You're ready for anything mother nature has thrown your way. Even though you're not getting the extreme weather like certain parts of N.S., stay safe, warm inside, and enjoy good home cooking, plenty of homemade tea, and maybe even a nap or two :-)
Sending hugs and love to our good friends.

  16. Let me know how you made out once the storm is over. I know it's going to hit up there but hopefully the worst will be down south of you.

Whatever happens, I am sure you and J will be fine, you have a good set up.

  17. We just got a light covering of snow today for the first time this year, and I realised how we really should be more prepared with food and provisions incase we get snowed in!

    Stay warm!
