we're back!!!

we're so sorry that we haven't posted in so long - we have been busy getting Franklin settled with the boys and i am glad to say that everything is really working out. the three of them hang out together on the deck, Frankie follows Noodle around non-stop and Barley-Moe oversees the two of them. such a weight off of my mind - whew!

we have also been working on projects around the house and of course, the garden. we are eating radishes, peas and beans daily. we'll soon be digging up some potatoes - woohoo! and all of the little Helga's (tomatoe plants) are producing  little Helga-toes (tomatoes). i am going to plant a bunch of lettuce and more carrots this week.

here's the summer clothes box that jambaloney brought down from the attic last week. we had full intentions of unpacking this box but look who has turned it into his new bed - he loves that stupid box and it is right in the middle of my tiny, cramped living room - arghghghghgh! we are going to leave it there for him for another week or two until he properly acclimatizes and finds new places to sleep. for now, we just have to trip around it. he's a funny little guy and is finally starting to show signs of gaining weight.

here is some yummy paejon (korean pancake) that we had for breakfast. this is normally served as an appetizer in korean restaurants, but many normal Korean folk eat this for breakfast and/or lunch. we love it! it has cabbage, green onion and carrot inside the pancake. of course, traditional kimchi on the side - yummeh! and a dipping sauce that really kicks you in the head - i love that stuff! jambaloney ate the whole plate below and is still moaning and groaning - bahahahahah!

time now to go and catch up on all of your blogs.

  1. bahahahahaha - by the time you get the box unpacked, it'll be fall, and you wont need to. Perhaps that is what Franklin is trying to tell you...

  2. That sounds so much like us. If Beau is sitting in our favorite spot, we move elsewhere, even if we have to sit on the floor. and whoever *cough* came up with the name Helgatoes *cough* must have a sister she loves as much as you do Helga, but Beverlytoes doesn't have the same ring.

    1. lotta joy - i kinda like the sound of Beverlytoes. but thank you yet again for helping me come up with a name for my tomatoes....it`s hard to keep calling everything `little Helga`s`!!! i love the name Helgatoes and i know that she does too!

Helga honey - check out lotta joy`s post here:

she really loves her sister and her sister loves her back. just like you and me! it is so nice to have a sister to love - sigh.

anyway, lotta joy - i hear you about letting the pets have their favourite spots...we've eaten sitting on the floor cuz one cat is sprawled on the table and the other 2 are on the chairs. ack. what can you do when you have pets that are spoiled rotten!!!!

    2. Good gravey - you two girls are funny ! Just picture this - Here Jamie try a fresh Helgatoe on your sandwich - really !?!? Rolling eyes ! Oh bahahah !!!! Why not kymbertoes or lottatoes - I'm brilliant - lottatoes has a special ring to it - lottatoes it is then. :))

Sis- Franklin looks ever so peaceful and he's so happy to have his forever home. And that Korean pancake is awesome and ever so yummy looking ! I'd think it would stuff you to the gills and leave you knocked out on the couch for days ! Maybe even with a side order of heartburn ! Bahahahah !!

I'll go and check out lotta joy's post - now that you've peeked my curiosity.

I agree - a sister to love is the BEST ! And I do as you know ... always ! xoxoxoxo

    3. bahahahahahahah! ya know, i think you are on to something, sis, and maybe when i am feeding jambaloney the Helgatoes, maybe i will have to go back to calling them tomatoes - bahahahaha! lottatoes is pretty funny too - bahahahahah!

the pancakes don't give you heartburn if you aren't prone to it but they do really fill you up - i love the cabbage in them - yummeh! but the dipping sauce is the real kicker!

i am glad that you checked out lotta joy's post - it's evident that she really loves her sister...the same way that i love you - forever!!!! xoxoxoxoxo

    4. Kymber - Thank you for sharing Lotta Joy's feelings and sentiments with me. It's evident that she really loves and respects her sister - and her sister shares the same feelings towards her. A lovely bond ! And aren't they both just so beautiful !

I'm blessed to have the same bond between us ! You mean the world to me and I will always love you forever too !!!!

    1. oh Stephen - we both ate way too much pancake - we are bad like that! i made the strongest dipping sauce known to man! jambaloney likes spicy, hot stuff...but he can barely eat a few pieces of my kimchi at a time and he only dips the end of his pancake in the dipping sauce. me - i don't like hot and spicy things but i love kimchi - can eat a jar by myself in one sitting - and dipping sauce - i drench my pancakes in it - like soak them! i love those things. holy crap - just realized that i called it chapchae - that's cuz i was making it for dinner. those pancakes are called pajeons. gonna go fix that now.

  5. Sweet Kymber,

Those pancakes look amazing, I would eat them at any meal. We do that often in the house, make a breakfast meal and eat it for dinner, lunch or breakfast.
I see Frankie is fitting in just fine and looking pretty happy.
Enjoy your garden, I can't wait to hear more about your potatoes.
    Take care, your friend,
    Sandy
P.S. Hugs to the both of you!

    1. Ed - our house is super tiny with only 2 closets, so we have to do the yearly switcharoo of packing up the winter clothes and putting them in the attic, and taking down the summer clothes. but it did take us just about a year to unpack all of our boxes of stuff when we first moved here! good luck with your unpacking buddy!

  9. If I came to your house, the cats would sleep on anything of mine. That is what always happens. I caught my sister's cat sleeping on my coat, another was fighting my Cabbage Patch doll that went in my booth. Then, they had to come sniff every drink I put down. All cats sleep on my things because they know I am allergic to cats...sigh. Your box would be safe when I showed up.

    1. oh poor PP - i can just see all the cats following you around and you sneezing your head off! but yes, i need to get Frankie off of that box so that i can unpack it, so if you get some spare time i would appreciate a visit - bahahahaha!

  11. Kymber and JamJam !!

Glad you're back. I knew Frankie would settle in, and take over as soon as he could! lol I have cats too, and they pretty much rule the roost, except lately something is going on and they've been banished to the great outdoors because someone keeps pooping in the bath tub. aarrgghhhhh

I'm looking up a recipe for paejon...love Korean food and have a jar of kimchi just waiting to be eaten..this is the 4 th batch I've made this year, so you can see we like it....lol

    Happy Tuesday !!!

    1. thanks Akannie - we're glad to be back! and yes - cats always rule the roost. sorry about somebody pooping in the bath tub - they do the craziest things sometimes, eh?

oh i love korean food too...and kimchi is so good for you! how much do you make at a time? i make about 4 quart jars at a time and they usually last about a month. this last batch i made, i have already eaten half of the jar and i only opened it the day before yesterday - bahahahahah!

    2. I usually make about 2 quarts at a time...the weather gets too hot here sometimes and it's hard to keep it cool enough. But--we love it too...Do you make yours with kale and stuff in it too? I use whatever I have, usually...carrots, kale, onions, daikon, Chinese cabbage...

Have you ever made it with wild greens? Like dandelions, purslane...I'd like to try that. Imagine how super nutritious that would be!!
