i love gwak-a-mole!

(H/T to Joan Jett)

"i love gwak-a-mole
so put another dime in the juke-box, baby!
i love gwak-a-mole
so come an' take your time and dance with me!"

(this will make sense further down in the post!)

it's been misty, foggy and rainy for the past few days. no matter - misty days are good days for flumping on the couch with your honey, reading books together and watching some movies on netflix. did i tell you how much we enjoy netflix? and only $8 a month??? we love it!

check out these yummy babies! jambaloney's is the bloody one on the left - ick. i like mine like bootleather!

jambaloney got a bunch of these steaks, marked waaaay down and even though they had been in the freezer a few months, they were still delicious!

whenever it is gray or rainy out, i like to make colourful food. like homemade salsa. and homemade guacamole!

(cue Joan again):

"i love gwak-a-mole
so put another dime in the jukebox, baby!
i love gwak-a-mole
so come an take your time an dance with me - YEAH!"

i also love saying words phonetically - like love it! i always pronounce silent "K's" in words such as knapsack, knee and knob. i'm a rebel like that! i also love finding words that go with songs like the song above - bahahahahaha!

here have a look-see at the fajitas we made (of course i call them "fa-jee-tas"! - bahahahahahah!)

if you are wondering why the avocado pits are in the guacamole, it's a trick i learned from someone, somewhere. if you leave the pits in the guacamole, the guacamole doesn't discolour as fast. and it works!

anyway, i know that i am bragging but i can't help myself - check out my beautiful diamond necklace!

so in signing off - i wish you all a great day! jambaloney is off fishing and i am off to snuggle cat's bellies, sort out my seeds and read a book! laters!

  3. Nothing nicer than avo - and winter is when they're ripe in this country :) Storing half an avo in the fridge with it's pip in also works.

    Do love the glitter ;)

  4. Hey sis - flumping days are a good thing ! We need more of them - books, movies, and good food are essential for our well-being !

I confess that I've never had a fajita before. Been tempted to make them but the boys don't like avocados - but I do. The misty foggy picture is now a favorite of mine - I love that one ! That look is so serene and mystical. I can see sparkly jewels hanging from the trees in the distance - even a dancing gypsy or two !

Speaking of gypsy - your new gypsy top is drying in the breeze right now - along with mine. I found two really great ones for us. And yes, they are identical and red ... telling no more. If you ever give me some down time from the story boss - I could send what I need to send. Bahahaha !!!!!

Enjoy your day hon - Love you always sis ! xoxoxox

  5. WAAY too much time in the sun. I think you fried your brain out. bahahaha. Enjoy the cool days. No rain today so far for us, but i heard a ugly rumor that another storm is brewing in the southern Gulf near Mexico and may make its way here by next week. I hope not.

  7. I love markdown meat too!! - I get all excited when I see bright yellow clearance stickers in the meat department. The other night we had discounted steak that I cut into strips and fried.....some people complained that just some of the meat was a little "chewy"....that's when I confessed that it wasn't even all the same cut of steak, there was three different cuts (one good, one okay, and one cheap-o)so it was the luck of the draw on what you got!!LOL.

You and JoJo need to get together - it would be a great conversation, as he likes to add a "K" sound to the end of all of his words.....like mommy-K....it trips me out. I've never had a kid do that and I have no idea why or where he got that from - it just makes no sense to me, but I assume he will outgrow it and not be going out into the world putting K's at the end of all his words as an adult, but now I'm not so sure after reading this post;)...lol.

    Your food looked yummy:)

  8. you and jambaloney are the same MM - he gets all crazy for the markdowns too! oh that sucks if you are using 3 different kinds of steak - i feel for the ones who got the crappy stuff - bahahahahah!

i think me and JoJo are the same person!!!! i used to do that K thing all the time when i was little. me and my sister used to use our name initials - mine was K and hers was R - and then we would try to have conversations where every word started with your initial - we had a blast doing that!

but ya - look how good i turned out-k? i think JoJo has a very promising future-k? bahahahahahahah! poor kid. is probably gonna need some serious therapy later on in life....i never got any and look how good i turned out - bahahahahahahahahahah - k!

lots of love to you and all 246 children! (but my goodness you have the cutest kids known to mankind. still don't know how you managed that!) xoxoxoxox

  9. There's something a little sporting and dangerous about eating old meat - you feel like you're beating the system by saving some money, but you also know that you are taking a risk with ending up praying to the porcelain thrown too....lol....maybe it's just me that gets a little charge out of feeling rebellious? I will tell you that I've learned to NOT smell check the meat in front of the family - it scares the crap out of them and ruins a perfectly good meal, so I've learned to sniff test the meat in private......insert evil laugh!!

If JoJo turns out half as good as you he will be just fine...even if he's still adding a K sound to the ends of words as an old man:)

ah heck...now ya got me blushing and stuff. thanks hon! xoxox

    3. yep - that's for sure! jambaloney thinks it's unfair because your got a choice of a bunch of kids to train into little meat-sniffers....and they'll probably think it's fun - bahahahahah! here at the Manor it's just jambaloney - i won't touch the meat until he smells it!!!! love ya girl! xoxo

  14. The meat guy in one store said that people call and ask him to save the green meat for them. I cannot eat green meat, but it won't make anyone sick. Why do you think Indian, Thai, and Mexican foods, amongst others use so many spices and seasonings on their meat. The bad smell is only outside germs that will wash off. I rinse it. If that does not help, Dawn next. Then, slosh it in a bit of vinegar for about 20 seconds. If it still smells, cook it. If it tastes bad, give it to the animals.

    1. PracticalP - that is good information to know in the event of SHTF! and yes - that is exactly the reason that certain cultures that did not have any form of refrigeration due to climate used and use so much spices in their food. i get jambaloney to do the smell test and if there is any sort of smell - it goes.

ever think of increasing your wildcrops by adding more trees, bushes, and other plants to yeild more wild havests?

as for canada, "strange brew" is a good example how we south think of you.....
