i'll be away for a bit

what a beautiful "day before i have to have dental surgery" day!

it's so bright outside that it's blinding! the sun is bouncing off the snow and it almost hurts! we've had several walks and several hottub dips. i am having dental surgery tomorrow so i may not be able to blog or get to your blogs for a couple of days.

jambaloney got me a present for after my surgery. have a gander:

it's a nutri-bullet system. the thing about this that is different than a juicer or blender is that this can pulverize anything - like chia seeds, frozen fruit, flax seeds - any kind of seed! we have been using our green star juicer pretty regularly but it can't do seeds. and i am going to need lots of protein from seeds in order to heal up well. he also got me a pile of baby food, little apple sauces/grape sauces/strawberry sauces and some smoothie mixes - i'll be well taken care of for my healing period.

so get ready for blog posts showing many, many, many different smoothie-type things - bahahah! today we are loading me up on protein as my last hurrah for a few days. we're having bbq'd steak with a spincah, mango and avocado salad. and then later, the roast that i put on this morning will be for supper. we are praying we have enough "big-enough" potatoes left to make my favourite mashed potatoes and gravy. it's pretty cool that we had our own potatoes from july to now. we still have lots of little ones for roasting and we have a ton of seed potatoes! we've pretty much got potatoes nailed! so this year, we'll be trying to nail some other stuff.

allrighty - just wanted to let you all know that if you don't hear from me for a week or so - it's just because i'm healing up and drinking lots of different kinds of smoothies and juices. i'll probably look like a glass of juice by the time i'm healed.

we're sending our best to all of you out there! have a great rest of the week!

  2. Sorry about the dental surgery. I love my Ninja for smoothies. I have one almost every day with unsweetened coconut water or apple cider, along with spinach some type of fruit or 2 (pineapple, banana, blueberries, apples, etc.), spinach or kale & flax seed. Be careful even though the flax seeds grind up really well, the roughage from them can sometimes still get stuck under your gum. Hope the surgery goes well & that you heal quickly.

  3. Ouch - I feel your pain. Hope all goes well and will send you plenty of healing thoughtwaves.

Plenty of eggs (softly scrambled and plain, crustless quiches), blitzed veggie soups and, natch, your mashed tatties and smoothies.

    And ice cream ;)

    Feel better soon...

  6. We were given one of their earlier models as gifts and we got many years of life out of it, mostly pureeing foods for our two girls to eat at they were growing up. Ours you had to push down to turn it on and that switch lasted all of about two weeks before it went kaput. I ended up drilling a hole in the plastic body and hot gluing a manual switch in it to turn it off and on. It was still working when we sold it at a garage sale last year. We have a full size blender that does a better job so we didn't really use it anymore.

    Good luck on the surgery.

  9. how about nut butters in the smoothies for the first few days so that seed bits don't go where they don't belong?

  10. p. s. - your doc may tell you not to use a straw for several days because of the suction. obey him if he does.

  11. Sweet Kymber,

Dental surgery, no fun but needs to be done. Take care of yourself, let Jambaloney play Mr. Nurse....Bahahahahahahaha....
Sending you prayers all goes well, and you take it easy for a while. Use ice packs to help with any swelling.
Sending hugs and love to you both.
    Sandy

  16. Hoping all went well! The nutri-bullet looks fantastic. I know it's helping you stay nutrified even if your mouth doesn't feel like eating.

  17. Miss Kymber , I have followed your blog and Harry Fleishman and Pioneer Prepy's blog for four years. Now I cannot access Harry's Blog since you are close, can you find out why he has limited his blog, and perhaps ask him what his contact information is so I/we can once again enjoy his musings. Thanx Powerblok
