hodge-podge (WARNING: many photos coming!)

kymber here!

so the internet problem seems to be fixed except for some intermittent blips - when that happens - i just walk away from the computer and don't come back for a few days. oh crap - we decided that we really need to start our posts with who is writing the post - we have confused several readers and no wonder. anyway, i will go back up and write "kymber here"....hang on...i'll be back in a sec.

okay - i'm back. we have been having some gorgeous and wonderful weather this summer - we couldn't ask for better. enough sunny days, enough rainy days, enough overcast days - it has been an awesome summer. but here on the island, the last 2 weeks of august are what we call our best days of summer - so for the next 3 weeks - it is river days, beach days, searching out all of the islands in the river days....so work on the house, the greenhouse, the hoop houses, the porch, the addition (ya right!), the trench, etc.....all take a back seat until the middle of september. although last year we were still swimming in october. cross your fingers for us that we can still swim this october too. i love having my daily swim. even if it's only running down in the afternoon and having a dip - it does wonders for my soul. we didn't spend the afternoon at the river today but we did run down for a 20 minute dip - i love that. i need water!

UPDATE FOR MY BUDDY WINSTON WHO IS ALWAYS ASKING ABOUT OUR CATS, he is such a sweet guy and has such concern for our cats....so here is an update for him:

Noodie-Noo ( Noodle, who's original name was Dooby but then a friend of mine told me that Dooby was a word for the special cigarettes (which broke my heart cuz i loved calling him Dooby!), is still comfortably flomping on the back of Daddy's chair most days. sometimes he actually falls off.

"Frankly" speaking, the new little man seems to be settling in just fine....on top of the book case...on top of the books. no worries about the summer clothes box tho...it is still in the middle of the living room, we are still tripping all around it...he sleeps on the summer clothes box in the morning....afternoons he likes the books...have you ever seen anything so.....um.....sad and pathetic?

well...if not....have a look at Barley-Moe....yep, he's laying on a laptop cover that somebody (*not pointing any fingers at jambaloney*) left on the table one day over 7 months ago. Barley-Moe loved the little laptop case so who am i to move it - arghghghghghghgh!

hope that you enjoyed the update, Winston buddy!

next up - yummeh iced coffee. oh ya baby - we go there!

the wild raspberries that cover our entire land are picked daily and frozen...unless we decide to eat them. we got a ton of these things and the next 7-10 days is all about the raspberry picking. blueberries, blackberries and dewberries will all come in in the next week or so - we'll be living high off the hog all winter with all of these delicious berries - woohoo!

next up - lettuce seeds that have been harvested!

brussell sprout seeds too!

tons of kale seeds harvested - woohoo!

sky pic for Helga to show her the magical fog - isn't it beautiful, Helga?

oh man - some very delicious quinoa tabouleh on fresh lettuce, with sliced sausage and nasturtium flowers - deelish!

and another sky pic for Helga. doesn't that look magical, divine, otherworldly and miraculous? it's because it is. we sit in our rocking chairs every evening and watch this. we give much thanks when we do.

we are really happy to have you all here with us....thank you!

  1. Sweet Kymber,.........and Jambaloney lol.....
The picture of Noodle, looks as if the kitty wants a siesta (nap) for the afternoon. Frankie, we know he's playing like he's sleeping on top of the books on the book shelve. He's really reading and educating himself on how to become king kitty of the house, bahahaha!!!!!
Barley Moe is playing likes he's tired. He's really doing computer research to make sure Frankie doesn't become king.......
I'm so happy to see that Frankie is fitting in very well with the family :-)
Enjoy the beautiful sky, sunrise, sunsets and water for a while. Give the house, garden and property a rest for a while and have some well deserved fun YAYAYAYAY!!!!!
The picture of the sunset is just so breath taking, almost angelic and divine.
Have a beautiful evening Kymber and Jambaloney.
    Your Friend,
    Sandy xoxoxo

    1. Sweet Sandy - that noodle has a non-stop siesta for most of the day - bahahahah! as for Frankie - he is really smart and curious but all he does on top of the books is roll around, yawn, almost fall off, catch himself, yawn again - bahahahah! and that laptop case is fulllllll of cat hair and it's on the dining room table - arghghghgh! but i just can't move it until he makes another little spot for himself. and ya - for the next 2 weeks alllll we are doing is going to the river and ocean. we'll do normal tidy up things but nothing major - we need to get as much river/beach time as we can. i love that pic of the sky, too and am glad that you enjoyed it as well. i hope that you and BDMan had a lovely evening as well! xoxoxo

    1. oh PracticalP - i wish i could send you some berries. or i wish that you were here and could come and pick some with us - they really are everywhere and you don't even have to go into the bushes to get them!!! i love that pic of the sky - i have hundreds of dawn and sunset pics, plus a million pics during midday - i just love them. i have a little digital camera, the manual of which i have never even opened - bahahhaha! i don't know any settings and i don't play with any of the buttons other than the click one. so ya - i just point the camera and then click. i imagine that if someone knew how to operate the camera and knew how to take proper pics - i imagine that they could take really stunning pics of our sky. i am glad that you enjoy the sky pics!

  5. Your cats have picked up on your vibes and relish the serenity. But I want to know how you can sit in rocking chairs every evening nekkid? I assume they aren't cane bottomed chairs. And, as you read at my blog, we sit outside together each night, telling each other that we'd be lost here, if we were without each other.

Then Joe sees a hint of orange or pink in the sky and he takes my hand: walks me out from under the trees, and holds me while we stare at the sunset.

The neighbors must figure we're some kind of nuts who have lost our cult leader. They don't seem to be the type to have EVER hugged, or became enthralled by the sky.

    1. lotta joy - we have cushions on the chairs that cover the seat and the back otherwise we would NOT be able to sit in them nekkid - bahahahah! ya, you and Joe do the same as us - after supper, we like to go sit in the rocking chairs, it's our evening ritual. usually during the day, we spend the day out back and then down at the river. so every evening we go out to the rocking chairs and sit and talk and watch the sun set.

oh you should let the rumour get out to your neighbours that you are both the only surviving members of Heaven's Gate - bahahahahahahah! now THAT would be funny. and people like your neighbours who don't hug - ick - hate them kind of people. here everybody hugs. when we go to a dance or a community event, the first 45 minutes is spent going around to hug everyone. i love that.

  7. Hey Sis - Now this is what living is all about ! The river swim , the ocean swim, great food, and of course all the handsome boys !

I love the cats and look forward to playing with them. The weather there has such a nice blend - not too hot, not too cold. Just right.

Meanwhile I'm melting here in the desert - and need to push A to get a move on. I want to live by the sea after this heat wave here.

Sitting on the deck and watching the sunrise/ sunset... oh how heavenly ! Great pictures as always.

I love you forever my beautiful sis ! xoxoxoxo

    1. hey back Sis - you and me both know it!!! and ya - get A's butt in gear or i am coming there and kidnapping you - bahahahahah! actually, i hate flying - i'll send Barley- Moe or Noodle to go and get you - i need to keep jambaloney here to drive me around in the yacht - bahahahahahah!

sis - those cats are just little monsters and jambaloney blames me. when we first got Barley...he was such a man cat. he's as big as a small polar bear, i swear. but he was very manly and very independent. but i babied him and now he makes the most pathetic meows, pretends he's "lost", needs to be walked around in a taxi (my arms) several times a day and is basically like a little baby-man. noodie-noo is just a pretentious, little, demanding, cranky, attention-fixated old man. jeesh. Franklin is very sweet and very affectionate and will do anything to please! but he is always underfoot and lays down, gets up, lays down, gets up, repeat ad nauseum all day. drives me nuts! you'd love all 3 of them!

i am so sorry that you are melting out there - you poor dear! tell A that you love him too much to allow me to come out there and kick his butt - bahahahahah!

we sit out in our rocking chairs every evening staring at the setting sun...and i always feel that you are there with me. i love you forever! forever and a day, Helga. xoxoxoxox

(my father always told me i was a good "floater" - bahahahahah!)

  10. Beautiful!

I look at the photo of the food and can only sadly say that I had a Pogo for lunch as I was busy with housework.

    That looked wonderful.

    1. oh Brigid - we are always doing housework - and not the regular kind but the kind where you are putting in insulation, fixing the water heater, the sump pump, shocking the well, re-doing all of the plumbing and wiring, etc., etc. ad nauseum. one day we will be in a place where normal housework might even become enjoyable - nah! who am i kidding?!!?!? sorry that you were stuck doing housework all day - but hey - a pogo every now and again is not a bad thing in my books - in fact it's a treat. wish you had have been here so that i could have fed you...you being fed instead of you always feeding.

i loved the post about your Dad....it was touching, beautiful and living. i think that you know what i mean. thanks for stopping by - i know how busy you are!
