i am simply blown away!

i am blown away by the outpouring of love, prayers and support from all of you. who knew that a few days ago, when my friends Sci and Mars were scrambling their brains trying to figure out what to do after Sci wrecked their family's only vehicle - a problem that must have seemed insurmountable at the time - that after only a few days our blogging community would jump in and help them with this problem.

first and foremost - i thank each and every one of you who said a prayer for my friends - prayers always help and prayers from a number of people, some of whom are halfway around the world are the best. to all of my friends who prayed for Sci and Mars - well, it's nothing short of miraculous but your prayers WORKED!!!

to all of you who, although times are tough and money is scarce, sent a gift to my friend - even if it was only a dollar - well - your gift has really helped. Sci and Mars are no longer running around like chickens with their heads cut off, wondering how they are going to fix the truck. i think that all of us have at one time, or another, been in a financial bind wondering how we are going to fix the well, fix the sump-pump, replace the transmission in our vehicles, etc. it is an awful feeling to not know "where to get the money". that weight has been lifted from my friends' shoulders. and i thank you all for being so generous!

next - i am giving the biggest shout-out to my dear buddy, MDR from Modern Day Redneck. i have met several Texans in my life and they are some of the most generous, willing to help kind of people in the world. both Sci and MDR are Texans and listening to their accents on the phone - they sound like they might be cousins - bahhaha!

why am i giving a big shout-out to MDR? well, because in his true and humble fashion, he generously offered Sci and Mars the use of one of his trucks. YES - you read that right!!! oh and if that wasn't enough generosity - he offered to TAKE the truck from Texas to Oklahoma - and he offered to do it this Saturday!!!! he and his lovely wife will spend their day Saturday taking the truck to Sci and Mars!!! in less than a week, because of everyone's generosity, the biggest being MDR's, Sci and Mars will have a working vehicle while Mars continues to fix theirs.

for any of who know MDR, you know that he is not the kind of person to want a bunch of attention. i had to beg him to let me tell all of you about his generosity. in true MDR fashion he told me "I am not doing this for the glory or the attention...I do it out of friendship, love and the generosity through the glory of Christ, because without him we cannot do anything anyway". no truer words have been said, buddy!

MDR - from the bottom of my Big Cape Breton heart, i thank your Big Texan Heart! i won't forget this buddy! and jambaloney and i will always be here if you need us!!!

lastly, i would like to thank one of our readers, Rick, who made a substantial donation. Rick, it was really nice talking to you and i hope that we can stay in touch through the blog and through email. you have lived a very interesting life and i would love to know more about it!

one last time - to all of you, my friends, who jumped when i called - thank you so much. it is such a nice feeling to know that one has reliable and true friends. if there is anything that i can ever do for any of you, please don't hesitate to ask. i promise to always try to do my best to be a good a friend as you all are to me.

make sure to stop in to Sci's thank you post!

No worries honey, I wouldn't do that to you. But it would sure have been fun ! You know I feel the very same - love your posts, emails, and can hardly wait to get to Cape Breton. And when I do , we won't sleep a wink cause we'll be laughing all night !

    1. PP - MDR deserves all of the credit. he dropped everything, made sure the truck was ready, and then he and his family changed all of their plans for this weekend to be able to do this. what i have learned from all of this is that if we are ever in trouble - i am calling on my great friend MDR. i know that he will do everything in his power to help us. oh man - that is a wonderful feeling. and ya know what - we will do everything in our power to help him and his family. there is so much more that i want to say right now about our friendship with him and his family - but he is a modest guy and i must respect that. suffice it to say - MDR is a modern day hero and a guy that i am really glad to call a friend. thanks PP. i appreciate your comment!

  14. Kymber,

My dear, sweet, friend, you are all kinds of special. I knew when we first "met" that you were, but this very generous act of kindness of making everyone aware of Sci's plight just proves it to everyone.

People still don't understand and think I'm crazy when I say some of my best friends are online and that we've never met in person. But I swear, I have never come across a more friendly, caring, tight-knit bunch of people in my life than those that I've met through our blogs. I wouldn't trade them for anything. :)

I offer up my heartfelt thanks to everyone that prayed for & helped out my dear, friend, Sci. Big hugs to you all.

Kymber tons & tons of love to you and Jamba, you guys are the best. xoxo

    Have a great weekend

    1. teeheehee - wow Fel - i could write the exact same comment back to you - how crazy is that?!?!?!? i always knew that you were the real deal - well that wasn't hard since you were always so sincere in all dealings that i had with you - and then there was the fact that you and Catman respected your daughter, acknowledged her vegetarianism, took her to concerts, and you and Catman are just awesome all-around people - you know - the kind of people that it is hard to make friends with - bahahahahha! oh honey - you were the first person that i ever shared Framboise Manor with - i shared it with you and no one else for over a month - THAT should say something!!!

we love you and yours and we look forward to a friendship that lasts until the last breathe! and i know that we will meet before then!

      always and forever. your friend,
      kymber

  15. I am amazed and glad for them. I am losing my house and appealed to my readers. Only two responded. In all my life, few people have actually helped me at all. Most of those had ulterior motives. My two blog folk who sent me a bit did not, of that I am sure. I read your plea and figured they would have little luck, either! Like I said, I am not bitter, but grateful they got help. That truck did not look like it could ever be fixed without sinking lots of money into its redemption.

How did your blog get off my blog roll?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. PracticalP - i hope you understand that i would never appeal to my readers for help unless it was for someone that i could vouch for...as my honour, dignity and integrity is called up to account. i think that you are a lovely person and i know that you are going through a very tough time...but to be incredibly honest - i don't know you well enough to vouch for you. which is why i haven't. i wish you all of the best and i know that that is not much - but i have known Sci for over 4 years and she is very easy to vouch for.

i don't think that our blog was ever on your blogroll. you have to add a blog for it to be on your blogroll.

      Delete
    2. Let me assure you I was not trying to get you to make an appeal for me. Not at all! No, I have people who know me personally and can vouch for me that just seem really uninterested.

They have been really good friends as long as I was doing the giving. It is a cold, hard reality for me. Of course, several friends moved or died or both.

I am quite embarrassed by your suggestion that I was wanting you to make an appeal for me. That is not true at all, but maybe it sounded so to you. I was just touched by your act. Yes, you were on my blogroll up until a week or so ago. Yes, I added you. I am changing nothing until I get the new blogger figured out if I have not gotten it right already.

My comment was not a slam to my readers since most of them are struggling, just not losing their home.

      Delete
    3. PracticalP - i am sorry if you thought that i thought that you were asking me for an appeal - i never thought that at all! but when i was writing the posts for Sci - i knew about another friend that could benefit from an appeal, but i can't vouch for him either. and i know what you are going through and in writing these posts for Sci - i thought that you must be wondering why i didn't do the same for you. so i wanted to explain why. i never once thought that you were asking anything of me - i just wanted to explain why i hadn't.

i wish that we lived closer. we would help you in a heartbeat. we are excellent packers and could get everything done for you lickety-split. and i would feel that i was helping you. i wish i could help you out of this bind that you are in. i hope that you know that.

  16. MDR is a fine person, and Kymber thank you for bringing this to our attention. So many times the challenges of the world seem so great that we become overwhelmed by them. This is a reminder, that although we can't always successfully help our friends out of some of life's quagmires, that sometimes we can !

    1. Jane - like usual - you nailed it! we face many challenges in this life - of this - you are more than aware! but you are very correct - sometimes we can help others and make a challenge that much easier. only sometimes.

Jane - thank you for being the kind of friend that i could call on - the kind of friend who would answer - almost immediately, but most certainly, as soon as they could. this internet thing is really helping me refine the qualities that i want in a friend. as are you. you are living up to all of my ideals.

      thank you. your friend,

    1. Genevieve, new friend that i am glad to hold close to my heart - MDR is The Man - whether he likes it or not. i have loved his posts, his emails and phone calls with him since we first became friends. and now for me to reveal my soul - i would trust my children with him. if i had children and something happened to me and jambaloney - i would entrust my children with him. i have no family to rely on - but when i look at how MDR and his beautiful wife have raised their girls - i would entrust him with my children.

oops - there goes MDR and his lovely wife, running away from our newly formed friendship. they have raised four babies and don't want anymore. oh well - the friendship was really good while it lasted! i guess i need to find other godparents for my future babies - bahahahah! 18. How wonderful...my experience is that people are generally kind and good, and I am blessed again to see the community rally. These are tough times we live in right now, but I truly believe there is abundance and more than enough for everyone. I am so happy that Sci and Mars are having that burden lifted by the kindness of MDR and the reaction of your readers.

I added my prayers to the list that things will continue to work out...

    1. Akannie - first off, i thought that i was following you and that you were on our bloglist?!?!?!? well that has been fixed now!

thank you for saying that your experience is that people are generally kind and good - i feel the same way. jambaloney and i believe in helping if we can - if we can do something to help that doesn't hinder or hurt us - then we will. we have been ripped off and fooled a few times over the years, but normally when we help someone, we are repaid in friendship and love. and thank you for adding my friends to your prayers - that means the world to me!

thank you for such sweet words - ugh. i'm kind of a softie so your words are very meaningful. i am glad that i am getting to know you, too. anyone who is trying to figure out if the Hokey Pokey is what it's all about is someone that i definitely want in my life. as a friend.

    2. LOL, Kymber! I think it IS what it's all about!!!! haha

I too help when I can and try to be as altruistic as possible..I have been fooled a few times, but always just looked at it as a learning experience. Thankfully, I haven't been wounded so badly as to change my perspective. If someone takes something from me, I just think they must need it more than I do at the time, and let it go gleefully into the Universe!

I always get more than I give, I think, in one way or another. Happy Sunday!!
