POOOOOOP...and some other stuff

another great day of getting a bunch of stuff done yesterday!

jambaloney went to our poop guy and got another truck load!

he amended the last raised bed.

woohoo! she's already for planting tomorrow!

and that bio-mulch kids - it's awesome!

in the two white tires below i planted nasturtiums all around the outside of the tires and filled the middles with sunflowers.

the tiny black tire has sunset lady runner bean and will also get some sunflowers.

i planted 24 more tomatoes and 14 corn.

after a long hard day, the man needed his steak, grilled asparagus and greek-like salad with our own greens.

this morning's breakfast - grilled veg - yummeh!

it's only 1pm and jambaloney already got the plastic flap off of the porch:

it gives the bugs a chance if they get trapped on the porch.

he also emptied the poop from the truck and that lovely poop is under the 2 green tarps below.

and he got the sand and started leveling the 2nd greenhouse.

and now he's back to work on his contract and i am going to pick chive heads for a chive head salad - yummeh! hope you are all having a great day!

  1. Like I could stay away from reading this post with a title like that? So... what variety of poop is that? My husband swears by chicken litter and he's hoping to have a new source for it soon. IMO, it has one of the foulest odors on earth. I'd much rather smell the cow patties I dodge all along my morning walks!

    1. it' horse poop. a guy has a bunch of land and grows hay to give to another farmer who has a bunch of horses and then poop guy gets the poop to sell - very well reasonably priced, i must say! we;re hoping that next year we'll have enough of our own compost ready to amend the beds. lots of people swear by chicken manure, horse manure, cow manure, etc....i say use what works. i have smelled chicken manure and must admit, i agree with you! xoxo

  2. I was going to ask the same thing as Kelly! I have two piles of chicken litter mouldering and they are FOUL! There is no end of poop at my place - I tend to use the llama beans mostly, as they compost down so nicely over winter. Next year, the chicken litter should be composted and I will amend with that. 24 tomatoes?!?!? You are going to be up to your cute little chin in tomatoes come Fall!

  3. Just wondering, is Jam using the new tractor for all that heavy garden work?

  4. Back when we used to raise hogs, we got liquid poop for our garden so it wasn't very hard to amend it. It just soaked in. Even though we don't raise hogs anymore, the renters of the buildings still let us use all the liquid poop we desire.

  5. That looks lovely and crumby poop, I love it when I get a load of the black stuff. Feed the soil to feed you - perfect.

    1. Kev - our poop guy makes really good poop! or rather the farmer's horses do it. he makes a big pile in the fall, covers it and cooks it all winter. almost no weeds to be found in this stuff! xoxox
