we heard the loud clap of thunder.
we jumped into the hottub and waited for the rain. look how small the greenhouse looks in comparison to the sky!
try to ignore my finger in the above picture. any time it rains, kids, we run around the whole house nekkid, being rained on before getting back in the hottub.
jambaloney thinks i'm crazy but this is a ritual that i have been making us do for over 15 years. i think when it rains, but especially during a thunderstorm - you must acknowledge the universe's gift to you. we were in the hottub for an hour watching this beauty roll in.
it is always amazing when you can see the actual line of the thunderstorm. it rained on us only a few times. but it thundered like mad!
then we saw a tiny break in the sky and knew that it had passed us.
it only rained and thundered a few more times.
so very amazing to be a part of it!
and here is out front during one of our nekkid runs around the yard, in the rain then back to the hottub!
these skies are amazing!
and then the sky broke open right above us...to let us know to never forget to read the skies.
the lobster and crab fishermen here know all about how to read the skies...and jambaloney has learned to read the skies too. he knows exactly when to hit the river or strachan's brook in order to keep us filled with the best fish known to man.
river/brook trout! those type of trout are the first of any fish to die off if your water is polluted in any manner. not ours! sorry...but we got some of the bestest, freshest, healthiest water in the world. those trout were deeeeeelishous for breakfast! that man can feed us for the rest of our lives just off of trout - you want to feel food security? i feel it. i really feel it. and it makes for peaceful dreams at night.
and like i always say - we love our stir-fried veg!
the day ended kinda' hazy and alot buggy - those black flies are my nemesi!
all in all - another wonderful day! jambaloney got a bunch of stuff out of the basement and into our one shed, and some stuff out of another shed, then he'll start laying out all of the windows he got in the garbage to make our second greenhouse - BIG SHOUT-OUT to our big bro G and big sis C for a ginormic window and a glass door and a bunch of wood that jambaloney will go and get tomorrow. we already have the window but jam has to go and get the rest of the stuff. we'll have greenhouse #2 in no time. actually just in time. cuz i have corn coming up!
wahoohey! what a great day! sending love to you all - xoxoxo!
One of the great joys of moving to New Home was now we get thunderstorms as well. I have been known to sit out on the front porch and just listen and watch. It is pretty amazing.
ReplyDeleteTB - it's so loud during a thunderstorm but it is so loud it feels quiet. it is very relaxing to sit, listen and watch! xoxox
DeleteI love thunder and lightening. This spring, mew haven't gotten much.
ReplyDeleteyou guys and us guys both! hmmm...not a very grammatical sentence but i think you get the gist of it! xoxo
DeleteNature in action - what wonderful skies! In my youth, I was a great one to run around nekkid in the rain. You kids... :) xoxo
ReplyDeleteSusan - we can lose hours in our days just looking at the skies - i have to admit they are pretty amazing up here! my father used to take us nekkid kids to the beach in the rain or we would run around in the backyard in the rain - it's something i've never stopped doing (when i lived in places that i could without anyone seeing me!) and then i taught it to jambaloney. what's really fun is running around nekkid in the rain and then hopping into the hottub. we soooo love doing that! xoxox
DeleteSweet Kymber,
ReplyDeleteI love a good thunderstorm show!! Now I wouldn't be outside naked in my hot tub when it's thundering and lightning but I would be on the porch taking the view all along with taking picture.
Love me some good looking trout any time of the day.:-)
Sending hugs and love your way.
Sandy
Sweet Sandy - we get lots of thunder but very little lightening. and the lightening is always off in the distance if we have any so being in the hottub is a great place to be to watch the storm build and move over to our sister community of fourchu - that's when the real rain hits!
Deletejambaloney says all the trouts belong to you! sending hugs and love back, from both of us! xoxoxoxox
Aren't you afraid lightning will hit the hot tub and you'll both be found floating around in circles, nude and parboiled? I hate lightning.
ReplyDeleteWe've been having the same kind of weather here in the afternoon. A big thunderstorm will come up, and I run around shutting off all the electronic equipment, the dehumidifiers, the air conditioning, and the well pump. Then in five minutes, the storm goes away. Fifteen minutes later , after I have turned everything back on, another one comes and I repeat the evolution, swearing luridly as I rush from building to building. One day, I'll get hit by lightning when I'm between buildings, and the chickens will eat me. Only my skeleton will be left to tell the tale.
Harry - we get lots of thunder and rainstorms but very little lightening. in fact on that day there was no lightening - just thunder and rain. i understand why you would hate lightening - you get way more of it than we do. and we think if we were in the hottub and lightening hit us - hey that's not a bad way to go - bahahhhaha! plus after 2 hours of not being fed the cats would climb in the hottub and eat us!
Deleteand that is an awful lot of stuff to have to do every time there's a thunderstorm - i feel for ya buddy! chickens must be just like our cats - need to be fed every 2 hours or they'll eat you! bahahahahah! sending much love buddy! xoxox
Wait... you hear thunder so you get IN the water?? Yikes! I use to love storms, but in recent years we've dealt with enough wind damage along with a direct lightning strike that I've grown leery of them. Then there's hail. I'd hate to get caught in that nekkid or otherwise! ;)
ReplyDeleteKelly - we love the thunderstorms! and yes - we even go down to the river and the beach in a thunderstorm to swim. after/during a good rainstorm here in the summer, the rain makes the water warmer. but we love nothing more than running around the house in the rain and then jumping in the hottub. and we screech like little girls when we do it.
Deletebut i can completely understand your leeriness after a direct lightening strike. that would scare the bejeezuz out of me. but we rarely get lightening. hail, however, that's another story! but if it's tiny hail we get in the hottub and take our umbrellas - bahahahahah! i know - we're idiots. but we have a lot of fun! xoxo
Hi Kymber :))
ReplyDeleteI LOVE thunderstorms. Actually Alex and I had a romantic moment on the hammock last thunderstorm! :) It was lovely! I wish I could run around buck-nekkid around here when it rains, but my neighbours are way too nosy and curious lol...the photos are great. We got woken up the other morning at 4am by a huge thunderclap. Our poor Marlene can't handle loud noises and she had a rough night.
Your are so right though, if you can fish (and have a good spot), you can eat endlessly. We haven't gone out much because of those damn black flies...but I think your idea of a full body bug suit is in our futures because it's likely we won't leave the mountains! :) I hate using DEET.
jeez louise - did you really have to mention the romantic moment on the hammock - bahahyahahahaahy! that's way too cute and the hammock would be the perfect place to sway and watch and listen to the storm.
Deletewhen you get your land, you'll be able to run around buck nekkid any time you like! oh poor Marlene - i once had a dog who couldn't handle the thunder and he would try to get under the couch. the couch had 2 inch legs and he was a 100lb black lab. so i understand.
we are very fortunate to be where we are and to have access to this much fish - we know that! and some of our hunting friends give us lots of meat too! jambaloney hasn't gone hunting yet - hunting season is when he is the busiest at work.
as for DEET - i hate it but i hate the bug suits more! i hope you get some bug suits and like them! sending love to you and Alex! xoxoxo
What fab pictures of the sky. It seems endless to me in your pictures.
ReplyDeleteI have put the last house photos up. they will be there till monday morning and then I am taking them down.
p.s. I think we have found a house. it doesnt have land though but we had the nod from a local that I could buy some from a neighbour as they are getting on and want less hassle... we will see this weekend.
Sol - the sky here really does seem endless. and at night in the hottub, because there is no light pollution here, on a clear starry night you can see the curve of the sky - it's so beautiful!
DeleteOMG! OMG! i am soooo excited for you! you must keep me updated! oh wooohoooo for you guys! sending ots of love! xoxox
The blog are the best that is extremely useful to keep.
ReplyDeleteI can share the ideas of the future as this is really what I was looking for,
