whoa! i missed our one year blog-iversary!!!

happy 1 yr anniversary Framboise Manor blog! i can't believe it's been a year??? our actual blog-iversary was on September 14. the only reason i remembered is because the jack for my phone just stopped working. how can i put up a post without my pictures?!?!?!? so i thought i would dig through some old pictures from this day last year to post instead. that's when i remembered that we started the blog last september....neat.

anyway - this is what we had for breakfast on September 17 last year - eggs over easy on roasted potatoes - yummeh! of course there was also toast, just for some reason it wasn't on the plate. i love dippy eggs!!! i dip my toast and my potatoes in them!

here is our lunch that day, down at the river suntanning. bologna sandwiches - yummeh! we don't eat balogna sandwiches often, but we love them and consider them a junk food treat! plums, watermelon, steamed broccoli and a can of cold beans. we consider canned beans to be junk food too - and we always have them with bologna sandwiches. it's the framboise manor version of a big mac and fries - teehee!

my man had spent several days trying to build us an attic for storage. he worked his butt off. he looks so tired in the pic below. tired but always has a smile. he hates having his pic taken tho.

he cleaned up real good the next day!!! we had to go and serve at the yearly ham and salad supper at our community centre.

so a big thank you to all who stop by and leave comments. we started this blog just to be able to record our days and the projects that we worked on and whatnot. just a place to document our journey from the big city to this tiny community in the most beautiful place in the world, Cape Breton Island. the fact that we have made such good friends with people millions of miles away from us through this little blog is astounding. i am so glad that we started this blog - i wouldn't have met you all without it.

thank you all for sharing this journey with us.

  1. And may you have many more blogaverseries. Before you know it, or at least that is the way I feel, you will be on the verge of a decade of blogging and wondering how you managed to write for so long.

    1. thanks so much Ed, buddy - i really appreciate that! we both really enjoy blogging - although poor jambaloney is usually busy working on all of the home projects like trenches and whatnot, as you are fully aware of what with your new house and all - so he doesn't blog as often. but we both would like to still be blogging here in a decade or so!

  4. I love bologna sandwiches, too, and do consider them junk food. Bologna rarely comes into the house. Canned green beans--ooooh, I love those too, but do eat them more often. I can eat them from the can! Now, I want bologna.

    1. oh PracticalP - we love balogna sandwiches too! we only buy it about twice a year, in the spring when the days get warm enough to start going to the river and in the fall. we get it thick-sliced from the deli, about 10 pieces, and then eat balogna sandwiches for a week. do you like fried balogna sandwiches with tons of mustard and on squishy bread? oh we love those too! and now ugh - i want a balogna sandwich too - bahahahahah!

  23. It can't be just one year ! It's not a blog, it's an informational and communications empire and legacy ! You not only have created a safe and warm place for all of us to stop by for tea and unusual yummies, but you each appear in so many places across the blogosphere encouraging so many other writers. There are even blogs which talk about you both affectionately. You are, for all intents and purposes, "Blog-stars" !

    1. dear darling Jane - you say the sweetest things and we always appreciate it. i will always have tea and yummies ready for you and yours - tonight's awesome snack - savoury croutons!!!! i love croutons and it has taken many years for me to convince jambaloney that they are a great snackfood! they take only 15 mins to make and honestly - when made from scraps of homemade bread with olive oil, sage, garlic, rosemary and thyme - oh what a delicious snack. oh but i digress - sorry my love of croutons distracted me.

Jane - we love the variety of people that we have met through blogging - people we would have never met otherwise. our lives are enriched because of those friendships - like the one that we have firmly established with you. we are so appreciative of your trust...and i promise many pics of our secret for you! much love to you and yours always!

  26. Bologna as a treat? I love bologna sandwiches! I ate bologna sandwiches just about everyday in grade school. It was a thick slice of bologna, on Wonder bread, with miracle whip. A bunch of potato chips. And, a few chocolate chip cookies. With a thermos full of milk. all placed in my Roy Rodgers lunch box. I did, I ate that every day in school. From first grade through fourth grade.
And I love my egg's over easy. And when we have some pancakes. I like my egg's on top of my pancakes. With bacon, and hash brown taters.
And, don't get me started on how I like spam. LOL!
I love your blog, and glade that I found it. Now, I'm going to have to blog about some good eats.

Here's to many more years of your blog. (I just toasted you with a fried egg and bologna sandwich.)

buddy - you need to start some good eats blogs. i am sure that a majority of us will develop high blood sugar and near coronaries...but we'll love it!

oh fried egg and bologna sandwich - oh that is too much buddy! did you have a ton of ketchup on it?

  30. Happy Blogiversary!

You and my dad would get along at least when it comes to bologna sandwiches. It is a running joke between dad and myself. He is the usual man, impossible to buy gifts for because if he needs or wants something, he just buys it. One year I asked him what he wanted for his birthday; his reply was "a bologna sandwich" (primarily because that was what he was holding in his hands at the time). So each year I ask him if he wants another bologna sandwich for his birthday, and he replies in the affirmative.
