it happens every year. our river gets backed up because of the small opening to the ocean. how backed up, you ask? how about this backed up:
that's about 250ft of our road buried in river!!! there's jambaloney trekking through it to make sure that our yacht is ok. teehee - he's naked so i blocked out his bum!!!
since there was no going to the river, we went to the ocean. the ocean is 5 mins away. the beach is always deserted and we get to frolic just like at the river. the only prob is that we have to wear bathing suits...just in case someone shows up.
it's breath-taking isn't it?
here it is from the other side - and there's truckdura! we love that truck!
check out the beautiful sandpipers and the sun bouncing off of the waves:
here's a few seagulls and a cormorant fishing:
yep - that's where our river empties into the ocean. and it is definitely blocked.
why am i sitting on a rock wearing a beautiful, white dress that my sister Helga sent me?
why am i running up the beach, screeching for my towel after swimming in the ocean in a beautiful, white dress that my sister Helga sent me?
it's top secret and i am not allowed to tell!
jambaloney loves swimming in the ocean. the salt water makes you very buoyant and he's a sinker - bahahahah!
here's a look from the point at where the river empties into the ocean...the ocean waves bring up much debris and seaweed and then eventually it piles up and blocks the rivers path.
want to know a secret tip for making beef roast or beef anything filled with flavour. i am taking a real risk here, risking my security clearance, mine and my family's lives...but i'll do it for all of you.
anchovies. take them out of the can, don't rinse off the salt, chop them up fine, add them to your roast in the crockpot or the oven, they will disintegrate and for some crazy reason known only to the ancient Sumerians - really bring out the flavour in beef. think i'm crazy? read the ingredients in worcestershire sauce!
last but not least - oh yummy breakfast of the gods - the last of the trouts (because we are only allowed to have 5 on hand a day and we would never break the rules and freeze a ton. nope we wouldn't do that. but if we did, we certainly wouldn't put pics up on our blog of us eating trout after trout season - that would be stupid!). for your viewing pleasure, one last trout pic until next april.
trout, potatoe fritters (our own potatoes - they are so deelish!), yoghurt, cream cheese, garlic and dill sauce, the fermented beets and daikon radish that i made the other day - they are divine!!!! and some edible and beautiful borage flowers. yummeh for your tummeh!
hope you all have a great day!
