a beautiful sunset for Stephen

we took these pics of the sunset this evening for our friend Stephen. Stephen is still in the hospital but apparently doing well, and we know this because our friend Duke has been updating us all regularly. we saw this beautiful sunset and thought that we should share it with everyone - it lifted our spirits and i hope it will lift yours, and i hope that Stephen gets to see these pics. and i hope that it will lift his spirits as well. please enjoy these pics of our beautiful sky...and please keep our friend Stephen in your thoughts and prayers, and pray that he will be released from the hospital soon.

these pics were taken over a half-hour period. the sunsets here are amazing! i could take pics of them (and bore you all to death) every day. i hope that these pics find everyone in good spirits.

we are thinking of you Stephen, Sweet Wife and Little Bit! and you, too, Duke!

  1. Those are beautiful sunsets! My friend,LindaM, of Hello It's Me is facing some serious health issues too. Thankfully,I just surmounted a hurdle with my health and found I was cancer-free for now. Everyone should rejoice in health. Good thoughts going to Stephen.

  2. Kymber, I am sorry that you too are up in the middle of the night like me. The pictures are lovely, and I wonder how much of the lovely colored sunset is caused by this weeks coronal mass ejections which are the strongest this week since 2005. Prayers sent for Stephen.

    1. Jane - i really enjoyed your post about dog kennels and will show jambaloney in the morning. thank you for being here in the middle of the night with me - it is nice to know that someone is there!

i, too, have been reading about the CMEs...and they could be why the sunset was so beautiful but we have beautiful sunsets like that daily. we have noticed that as the sun is going down at this time of year, it really reflects off of the ocean (which is about 15kms away from us). as the sun is setting and reflecting off of the ocean we get gorgeous sunsets...always reflecting and bouncing the colours back up into the sky. the sunsets are always different during the different seasons so i am not sure if this was caused by a CME or not???

      what do you think?

thanks for stopping in, my friend.

      your friend,
      kymber

    2. I don't know what effect the CMEs would have, although I am simply alert to them when I read on the NASA site that we are having them again. Cape Breton Island and many places in Nova Scotia are eerily beautiful even in the absence of coronal mass ejections anyway. We can simply stand in awe of the beauty and the episodic changes in our days and in the world. I hope good news regarding Stephen is coming soon.

  4. Beautiful and awesome...thanks for sharing. Hey did you guys catch any of the Northern Lights last week when we were having that big solar flare?

    1. JUGM - thanks for stopping in. we don't normally see the northern lights here...apparently it's related to altitude and where you are located and a whole pile of other stuff. i did see the northern lights many times when i was posted to Alert in Ellesmere Island...they were simply amazing!

  7. Thank you for the updates.

You don't have as much snow on the ground as I would have thought.

    1. thank you Russell. ya we haven't gotten any "stay around snow" yet this year. we get snow and it stays for a day or so, then it rains and washes it all away. and it hasn't been cold yet either. it's pretty temperate here in this little micro-climate. when we get a "real" snow i will take some pics for you.
