in da HOT-TUB!

okay - well i don't have any pics of us actually IN da hot-tub (we can't find our bathing suits as we don't need them here - we think they are in one of the attics. as soon as we find them, i'll post a pic of us in da HOT-TUB!)

however, i do have pics OF da hot-tub. here's a pic showing where the hot-tub lives - it's awesome!

and here is a pic of only half of the cover removed. this is a 4-person hot-tub and it is soooo roomy. back in the city we had a 2-person hot-tub. the difference is amazing. we can stretch right out in this one. oh and the jets are to die for.

and here is a pic without the jets on. we love this thing. the little thing floating on the bottom right of the pic is our bobbing water thermometer. that weird string thing on the left - i have no idea??? i think it is the reflection of something or????

so there it is. we have been in and out of it several times over the past two days. the hot-tub is extremely therapeutic and if used regularly, can really help out with a variety of aches and pains. the only problem is that when you first start using it - aches and pains that you might not have been aware of very quickly identify themselves! it takes a couple of weeks of using the hot-tub before you start actually enjoying it. right now - the two of us are moaning and groaning about pains and aches that we didn't know about. and that's on top of the pains and aches that we do know about. but slowly the hydrotherapy will work out all of our aches and pains.

for anyone interested, this is a Softub model. when empty, it only weighs 70lbs...so you can move it anywhere you want. we had a Softub in the city for 2yrs and then gave it to our step-dad. he is enjoying the crap out of that thing. we never experienced any problems with it and neither has our step-dad. i really recommend that if you consider getting a hot-tub, that you check out Softub!

as crazy as this may sound - this is an investment in our health. and well worth the money! besides the hydrotherapy that it provides, it also provides us with a place to start the day and a place to end the day. whenever we are in the hot-tub we chat, we talk about plans for tomorrow, we talk about short-term goals, long-term goals, our ideas and our dreams. the hot-tub is a very soothing way to start and end the day. it helps to relieve stress, tension, muscle aches and pains - and it is a wonderful place to sit and enjoy a glass of wine (me) or a beer (jambaloney) at the end of a day and look back at what we have accomplished.

we love the hot-tub. and recommend that all of our friends look into getting one - the physical, mental and emotional health benefits are great. but getting in da HOT-TUB whenever you want - that's the best part!

  7. I am fixing to upgrade to a larger hot tub. (real good deal) The one I currently have, the heater quit working. Nice in the hot summer months though.

When I asked the wife if I could get the new one, the conditions were, 1) get rid of the current one AND 2) I cannot put it on the back deck, (like where the current one is)

Only problem I have no is where to put it....my idea is in the living room in front of the tv. (my funeral details to follow)

  8. Gosh, you can cook some veggies while you all soak. Just don't put in any bubble bath. It makes a hell of a mess. (Did that to a friends hot tub. another story for my blog.) Have fun, and watch out for the prunny skin.

  9. Warlock - my vote foes for in fornt of the tv...teeheehee! your wife will kill you buddy!

Flier389 - no veggies get soaked in the hot-tub - especially not smurf brains! you gotta tell that hot-tub story, buddy - i am dying to hear it!

oh and because i am a water baby and grew up in the water, then lived in my bathtub, then lived in the hot-tub back in the city - i never, ever get pruny skin. like never!

thank you guys for stopping in!

  10. Phelan:

come whenever you can, the ht will be waiting!

CZ - bathing suit pics will follow, kymber has told me to go get bathing suits pronto!

    warlock:

build a mini deck near your house wherever suitable, run some wires and you are good. if you need any tips on running wire, just ask:

    jambaloney@gmail.com

the softub is great because it is portable and runs off 110v standard outlet. it should have it's own breaker. here is a link:

    http://www.softubcanada.com/

they are made in canada, but there should be a dealer near you. if you send me you location, i would be happy to find your nearest dealer.
    cheers!

  11. Well how about that! I don't know too much about hot tubs and never heard of a soft tub, but I am going to google it as my sweetie could use this.

Wishing you and your sweetie tons of relaxation and rest in the outdoor retreat you have created!!

  12. A* wants a hottub but the only way for us to do that being off-grid it is to build ( or buy ) a wood-fired hottub ( use for 2-3 days then drain, refill and repeat(they are small))..I wish we had the ability to power one of those bad boys!

  13. Please find the suits before we come.

Or we'll have to go buff, too, and I don't need another opportunity for the wife to point and laugh.

    Thanks.

  14. Jennifer - you and the hubby could really use it! i don't want to harp on but the therapeutic valley of a hot-tub really can't be matched. and because it is always there and you can get in it anytime - unlike a bath that you have to fill - it is really a great investment.

oh and for anyone who is interested - we pay about $30 bucks a month to run this thing 24/7. most people have entertainment bills that cost more. and this is entertainment 24/7. it is a wise investment.

thanks Jenn! i really think this would be good for Bill...and you, my friend!

egb - there are solar powered and wind powered hot tubs out there as well as the wood fired ones. i have heard really good things about the wood fired ones. let me know and i can dig up some research for you! they really are worth it!

Muddy - bahahahahahah! i have nothing else to say except - bahahahahah! oh poor you! we will find the suits my dear friend. my promise to you! bahahahahah!

  15. teehee - in the msg to Jenn - that should say "value" and not "valley". i need to get in the hot-tub!

  16. I understand they are great for boiling peanuts.

    ReplyDelete
  17. That looks like a whole heap of fun. I like the boiling peanuts idea also....LOL I do believe Papa Bear and I could eat our way out of a tub of boiled peanuts!

  18. I've only sat in a hot tub once and after that, I know what a cooked spaghetti noodle feels like when done. I could hardly stand up to get back into my clothes.

You don't need swimsuits in pictures on my account. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Stephen - hang on buddy - gonna give it a try. i'll get back to you, k? bahahahahahah! ya nut! no pun intended!

MammaBear - hang on a sec. we'll put a pound of peanuts in and i will try my best. come back later for an update.

bahahahahaha! oh ya Ed - you are such an easy going guy when it comes to clothes and we appreciate it! and you are dead right - when you come out of the hottub you feel like a really well cooked noodle. and you have a headache. and now you know why we don't wear clothes - bahahahah!

thanks for stopping by everyone! we really appreciate it!

  20. ohhhhhhhh, that looks wonderful, we've been soooo stressed and love hot tubs so much ... the only time we get to enjoy them is at the gym but its not the same sitting in relazing water with weird strangers

your home just looks so inviting in a lonely sort of way, i guess im just craving alone time for my and the hubs, its good to hear your enjoying the heck out of it

here's me, finding a couple of minutes of refreshment in looking at framboise mannor

    ReplyDelete
  21. GoodBagGirl - oh i just want to send you a plane ticket right now and have you and hubby come and enjoy the manor! jambaloney and i will stay in vandura and you and hubby can have the manor. and i haven't even posted yet about the bed we built...it goes from one side of the small bedroom to the other...it contains a queen-sized, and double-sized memory foam mattresses. it is heaven. one thing that we have learned over the years is that having places to de-stress, relax and enjoy is worth every penny.

our home is so isolated. and yet - just a kilometre down the street is our community centre. you can be as involved or as private as you want here. but one thing - it is pitch black and the stars and the moon are beautiful when you are enjoying the hot-tub. i am glad that you have a few minutes of refreshment looking at the manor.

you are always welcome eh? august is the best month to visit. start saving my friend. we'd love to have you.

    your friend,
    kymber

thanks for stopping by my friend!

  23. Why were there no mention of smurfs in this post? You could have drown one or something but instead you have chosen to ignore the smurf penalty all together. Bad Kymber.

Bad things happen when you ignore the smurf penalty. I tried to warn you.

  24. It is good to see your having fun with it. I actually have plans for a wood heated hot tub project later on. I just don't know where we will get the bubbles yet except by eating Mexican food a few hours before.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I will be right up via ambulance! Or med flight. Back is killing me as is knee and shoulder. I guess I would need a snorkel to get all my ailments submerged.

    Story:
Girl and boy walk through woods. Boy starts argument. Girl and boy separate. Girl passes house deep in woods with old, sweet, white-haired couple on front porch. Couple talk with girl. One of couple suggests to the other they have the girl for dinner.

"It has been so long since we have children for dinner." "Where are your children." "Oh, our children are all gone."

Couple offer girl wine while wife prepares dinner. Couple offer more wine. Wife is cutting a bushel of vegetables for dinner--carrots, potatoes, onions, etc.

Couple offer to allow the girl to get in their hot tub and relax. She does and guy poors more wine and more. Soon, as she is so relaxed she is about to slip under, the couple starts pouring huge bowls of vegetables in the hot tub. Girl giggles and is oblivious. Soon, the hot tub is boiling dinner.

Later, the man comments that the lack of fear always make meat taste better. Woman said it was lovely, that they should have children for dinner more often.

    I saw it on TV.

  26. PioneerP - i told you about my issues with being called Smurfette from grade 6 to grade 9!!! so there was a Smurf(ette) in the tub and mentioned in this post. what else can i do to redeem myself? please, please tell me!!!

MDR - ya - make sure to build a wood-heated one! we would love to see it! and yes, i have heard that eating lots of fantastic Mexican food does wonders for your hot-tub - bahahahahah!

PracticalP - whichever way you choose to make it up here is fine with us! jambaloney has an extra snorkel set - fins and all! and this thing is so big and roomy that you will need the fins!

as for your story - bahahahahah! that is awful! but funny as heck! but i would never use the hot-tub for boiling vegetables - that would be sacreligious!!!

anyway - thanks for stopping by everyone. jambaloney is finding us some bathing suits so that we can take a photo of us, and a smurf, in da Hot-tub!

  27. WOW We all do think alike. I was thinking you could cook your dinner in a heavy duty bag while you soak. ROTFLMAO. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Rob - you are a dear friend and we love you. BUT NO VEGETABLES WILL BE COOKING IN MY HOT-TUB! i mean it! that hot-tub is for relaxing and easing aches and pains. NO VEGETABLES.

if this keeps up i will no longer post any hot-tub posts - bahahahaha - naw jest teasin with y'all!

thanks for stopping in guys and gals. we really appreciate it!

  29. I've never been in a hut tub. Do you shower before you get in? What about maintenance? Do you have to emptied ever so often to clean it? How hot is the water? I know, I know...enough questions for another post. :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Ah...hot tubs! I love hot tubs.Maybe some day we will get one. Enjoy yours!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. oh Tango - being in the hottub is awesome! especially if you are a person who tends to get and stay chilled. and it is excellent for any chronic pain. or arthritic pain.

the maintenance is quite simple. you do have to use chems but we use the enviro-friendly ones. if you test your water regularly, and go in clean, and clean your filter regularly - then you can go as long as 3 months without changing the water. when you drain the tub - give it a quick wipe and re-fill it. the legal allowable limit for any hottub is 104F (40C) and you can be out there in the middle of a blizzard in january and enjoy the hot water - it's divine!

if you like baths you will love the hottub!

Donna - i hope that you guys do get one - very therapeutic not only on the body - but also for your mental and emotional state. i can't believe how much i missed having one. i have been feeling kind of stressed lately and it is taking the stress and anxiety right away. i love it!

    thanks for stopping by!

  32. Thankyou for the efforts. This definitely is a quality website. After looking at so much nonsense on the subject, it is exceedingly refreshing to find sites from someone who's so passionate about the subject. I'll be returning for more.

  33. Saying that your hot tub is roomy makes me think about our two-person hot tub. And feel a bit dissatisfied. Haha! It makes me imagine how fun it would be to invite my girl friends over and have a hot tub partey! It is probably one of the best places to share stories with. ‘Cos when our body is relaxed, it is easier to get rid of the reluctance to express one’s self. Have you done this over the years? :* -->Cathy
