a beautiful day, my mans be at work and lobster!

what a gorgeous day!

my jambaloney is on-site working at LobstersRUs...an amazing company that employs many of our friends. jambaloney is developing an application for them to take them from paper to computer - he is one of the smartest application developers i have ever met! i have worked throughout my career on developing applications from the analyst side, and trust me, his applications are both practical and beautiful. and he is working soo hard because it is important to him to make this company thrive. he makes me proud...soo proud!

one of the perks of the job?

those one and a half pound lobsters weren't free...he had to pay for them. but arthur, who works at the store selling them, cooks them to perfection. most people over-cook lobster but not our buddy arthur. he's been cooking lobster for 50some years and he knows what he is doing!

that's what we had for supper last night and they may very well have been the very first 2 caught-lobsters since the season started! they were full of salt-water...so salty that it made your eyes tear up! and full of delicious paste (most people don't eat the paste but the paste is soooo delicious!). it has taken years but i have finally taught jambaloney how to properly eat a lobster - every time you break off a body part - you slurp the salt-water juice out of it.

the best way to eat them is to cover your table in garbage bags, take off all of your clothes (if you happen to be wearing any)...and slurp all of that delicious atlantic ocean salt water out of them before you start eating.

we stock up on these beautiful babies during season and then break them up, get the meat out of them, vaccuum-seal them and have them all year long. but the first and freshest caught lobster of the season are divine. absolutely divine!

teehee. he's bringing two more home tonight. we'll gorge on fresh-cooked arthur lobster until we're sick of them and then break them down to freeze and have delicious lobster all winter.

the seafood here is to die for. and plentiful. we love living here. especially on beautiful days like today when my man is at work doing a fantastic job, the people that we love are employed and we know that when he gets home - we have a long weekend of gorgeous planting days! he will be back to work on monday but between now and then there will be lots of planting, lots of fun, we're definitely going fishing for trout, lots of laughing, lots of suntanning and lots of giving thanks for being where we are in our lives. it's important to give thanks...very important.

oh i forgot - there will be lots of lobster - woohoo!

  1. Oooooooooh - that's so not fair!!! Now I'm craving seafood. Abd those lobsters look so frigging good!!!!

Pity the company can't see it's way to selling their "staff" lobster at a discount.

Enjoy, my friend. :) You've hung on through a l-o-n-g winter...

  3. Sweet Kymber,

I love living near water fresh and or salt or both when possible. Were a fresh seafood family (Bulldog Man and I), Tank not so much. He will fish but won't eat the fish, he'll give them to us.
Enjoy those nice looking lobsters, and remember all your friends are drooling, and envious because you have a direct source to fresh seafood.
Have a beautiful day you two, sending hugs and love.
    Your Friend,
    Sandy

  4. Next time we have company over for lobster, I guess I will have to inform them that they must remove all their clothes first!

  5. Oh my yes we are jealous! that looks amazing...and to think you get it until you are ready to pop! It sure is important to be thankful!
Good news, I went again with my mother in law, and had to fight for it, but I FINALLY got her pain control medicine. I had to do a bunch of research on Dr's obligation to treat pain, the laws, the nursing association and any other information I could arm myself with. I am so grateful that they finally listened and gave her some relief!

  7. I have only eaten lobster tail at "surf and turf" places, never had a whole lobster. I see them in the grocery stores in the city sometimes, but I never buy them. Lobster is good though, sounds like you have plenty thanks to your location.

J is working pretty hard these days as well as working on the place. I know a job like that can wear you out but he's making hay while the sun shines.

Hey, I read that the Canadian government has accepted 10,000 Ethiopians and Somalis to be relocated to your island!

    (just kidding)

    1. hey Harry - most people like the tail part of the lobster best but i love the body! there is so much delicate delicious meat in the rib area and most people don't even know it's there. it's a picky job to get at the meat but i love stripping the ribs bare. my father used to brag about how i could strip a lobster clean.

these lobster are caught and processed each day - unless we were out on a boat catching our own, they couldn't be more fresh! LobstersRUs are experts on keeping the lobsters healthy, fresh and happy! they have the best lobster on the entire atlantic coast!

jam is working very hard and i make him take breaks from all of his different jobs and make sure to send him to work with healthy snacks and dinners. he is going at a good pace and he is actually enjoying going to work for a few days and then being home doing physical work here. by developing this application and system for LRUs is keeping his skills sharp as well.

and hey - the canadian government can do whatever they want but they ain't sending nobody here. no way jose! bahahahahah!

sending much love to you and yours Harry, and to all your ferrets! xoxo

  8. I grew up at the Atlantic Ocean and we practically lived on sea food. Now am land locked for the past 30 years. I drool at your pictures and thinking about fresh caught lobster. You have a wonderful life with a wonderful man,

    1. Tewshooz - you nailed it with "a wonderful life and a wonderful man" - we know how incredibly fortunate we are and are very thankful! after growing up on this island i left home and was landlocked for about 20yrs - it was awful! i kept trying to get good seafood but it was all crap. if you grow up eating food right from the ocean - nothing else compares. i'm sorry you're landlocked and wish i could send you some seafood. thank you for such a nice comment about my man - he really is wonderful! xox

  9. I've never cared much for lobsters or oysters, though I like a lot of other types of seafood. I've read that the first settlers in New England caught lobsters upwards of 50 pounds.

Gorges - if it comes out of the ocean - i eat it! i'd even eat rocks - bahahahah! and you are right - when john cabot discovered our island he and others left chronicles of fish being huge and being able to just lean over the boat with a bucket to catch tons of fish! sending much love to you and yours! xoxo

  11. The next best thing to getting one and a half pound lobsters for free is to actually have them cooked absolutely well. That being said, you certainly have very cool people around since you are not only able to witness the making of the well-made stuff, but you can also just dig in these lobsters with your fork and spoon. The fact that you've got more than enough of these lobsters is just aces. Cheers!
