another good couple of days! (and a bit of sad news)

it's been another good couple of days of getting lots of stuff done....even tho JUGM's auntie visited this past week.

i hope that this next bit of info doesn't offend any of my male readers, or any other readers. but i use this blog as "our" personal log/diary. and sometimes i feel the need to share because i know that some of my readers will relate and understand. so i am going to share. some of you already know from previous entries that we have been trying to have a baby for about 8yrs now. we use no protection and we are regularly "active".  so far - zilch. nada. nothing. zero. jambaloney has been tracking my monthly happenings for years now to see if we could find some pattern. and know when to be really "active". he's really good with that kind of stuff. he's a data specialist/analyst as you know - teehee.

anyway, 2 months ago i was 10 days late for JUGM's auntie to visit. when you are 2 or 3 days late, you think, "oh i am just a few days late. nothing to get excited about". but when you are 10 days late, that's when the hopeful thinking happens. you think "maybe". you try not to get too hopeful, but you can't help yourself. we don't spend too much time talking about it...we just say to each other, "ok. we're 8 days late" and leave it at that. we truly believe that if it is meant to be, it will be. we also believe in driving into the city and stealing a child if we become that desperate - bahahahahahahah!

well, this month, JUGM's auntie visited 16 days late. i mean, come on, after 10, 11, and 12 days late - you can't help but be hopeful. but no, JUGM's auntie visited 16 days late and that means that my cycle is changing and i am probably entering early on-set menopause. so maybe it isn't supposed to be and we have always been ok with that. one of us is wonky, we both know that it is me, but we have never gone the route of going to doctor's or any of that. we truly believe that if it is meant to be, then it will. it just kind of sucked going 16 days if you know what i mean.

ok - on to happier things. like daffodils.

dandelions.

tadpoles in the pond.

more tadpoles. all of whom will be named frog.

more tadpoles.

yesterday, jam had to take the truck back in to finish some work that needed to be done, like getting a new hose for the power steering. all i can say, kids, is warranties ROCK!

he was in town all day, i was on the couch all day hanging out with JUGM's auntie, feeling like crap and didn't eat anything. i fed jam some breakfast before he left, but he didn't eat for the entire day either. he got home from town late and we just had enough time to get ready to go to chase the ace. we called our friend b and he made sure to have some hotdogs ready for us when we got to the fourchu community centre - he's good like that! we wolfed them down in seconds. prior to getting to the hall, we met up with my besty c and my other besty s, who were heading off to unload a crab boat in fourchu harbour. they have been working 10 and 12 hour days non-stop since april. their beautiful little faces are burned to a crisp and wind-burned. we made little bags for them of sunscreen, zinc oxide, lip balm and aloe vera gel and we pray they will use them! we also made up bags for my besty c's 2 kids. who we love. to death.

anyway - we did chase the ace and were planning to bring some hotdogs to c and b down at the harbour, but they had finished unloading the boat, stopped into the hall, wolfed down their hotdogs and then had to head out to a different harbour to unload 2 more boats. these 2 women are my size and they haul and weigh 100lb crab crates for hours. i worry about them a lot. but they have been doing it for years....and they put the young men to shame. they make me proud.

anyway, when we got home, we were starving. all i could think of was to grab a cucumber and share it between the two of us. or just each of us eat a hunk of bread. that's when my besty e called and said that her husband d, who works on a lobster boat, had 2 lobster for us. already cooked. by his mother. jam was in the truck, over there and back in seconds flat. we scarfed down the biggest lobster and left little behind - it was delicious!

sorry. we ate the 2 giant claws of the biggest lobster before i took the pic! we scarfed back that lobster, had full bellies, climbed on the couch to watch a movie and passed out in minutes. with bellies full of lobster! this morning, for breakfast, we ate the smaller lobster. oh thank you d and b. i called d's mom b a little while earlier and thanked her. she was very graceful and said that she was happy that we enjoyed them so much. can you believe the people that live here? they blow our minds!!!

some more happy stuff - how about my first strawberry blossom?

in MAY?!??!?!??!?!?!?!? oh bring it on baby!

and just so you don't think that i didn't feed the man all week - i did. it's just hard when JUGM's auntie visits. here's another version of shrimp caesar salad. this one is boston lettuce and some additional lettuces from our garden. shrimp, homemade caesar dressing and homemade croutons. yummeh!

and some yummeh chicken and veg stirfry. with rice, oranges and kimchi.

tomorrow looks like it's a planting day - woohoo! we have beds ready to go, i am moving over-wintered peppers into the greenhouse, re-potting our new peppers, starting cucumbers, zucchini, squashes and melons in the greenhouse in the house, and starting a whole pile of herbs. tomorrow is supposed to be a stunning day....and JUGM's auntie has finally left.

i love JUGM, but don't really care too much for her auntie - bahahahahahah! i hope that you all have had a wonderful weekend and that you all have a wonderful week. off now to catch up on blogs. jam is working on restoring old fishing reels sitting right next to me....he'll have a post up about it in a day or two.

    1. oh buddy...i soooo know your frustration! JUGM's auntie is a real pain. thanks so much for stopping in...it means the world. your family is so on the right track right now...and being led by a proper, formal gentleman who knows how to take care of his family! JUGM is incredibly lucky to have you...and you are incredibly lucky to have such a beautiful, warm and talented woman. and i am super glad that you have such thoughtful, caring, loving, and extremely normal and interested boys. oh Senior...i look into the next several months and all i see is such good things for all of you. it makes me happy. and proud to call you guys my friends. thanks so much for commenting on such a personal post...we really appreciate your friendship. much love always, buddy, to you and all of yours, always. xoxoxxo

  3. You should consider adoption. Some poor little kids never escape the foster system.

    1. Mr.Smythe - we have considered adoption, which is very difficult up here in canada because of our age (i'm, 43 and jam is 47) and because we are retired. trust me, i have had friends our age try for years to adopt and it was pure heartache on them. then there is the fact that here on the island - we don't really have any adoption agencies or foster care systems because people just take kids - no, i mean it! they see a kid living in a bad situation and just take them. several of our closest friends were "taken" this way. but we do give up hope....lots of our friends kids have babies and we have some especially close young people who are having babies...so there are a lot of children for us to love. thank you, Sir.

  4. My dear friends,
I certainly hope that if this is what you want, that it happens for you. However, there are so many ways to parent in life, and life and love for you is so good, even without a child, that life without one can be fantastic too.
    Love to you both always,

    1. sweet Jane - our matriarch said it best when she blurted out "if you're 43 and never been pregnant, then the chances of getting pregnant now are pretty slim!" she said it with the exclamation mark too - bahahahah! we know that with my periods being so wonky for the past few years that my days of getting pregnant are few and far between. but we just believe that if it is meant to be, it will be. otherwise - yes, we are very fortunate to have each other and live the life that we do. love always back to you, your family, and all of your rescues! xoxoxo

  5. We wanted kids...they never arrived. We've given homes to heaps of cats over the years,so we've satisfied the need to nurture. If it's not meant to be,there isn't much you can do except love what you have.

    1. 6. Have you had a pregnancy test? With all three of my pregnancies "auntie" visited me very sporadically for several months.

A child will be very blessed to be a part of your lives.
    Hugs to you both!

    1. Mamma - we have a few pregnancy tests in our preps....i didn't even think of that because i have known women like you who still had periods for the first few months of their pregnancy. i will definitely go and try one. but i am pretty sure that i am not pregnant. no sore boobs, no weird cravings or any of that...but thank you for mentioning that.

we would love to have a child but we also believe that it will happen only if it is supposed to happen and if it doesn't happen...well, we will just continue living our lives to the fullest. thanks so much Mamma. hugs back to all of you but give that gorgeous Marine a big kiss from both of us. xoxoxo

Oh, I'm salivating at the thought of lobster, and they look soooooo delicious. But, cholesterol levels do not permit my indulging that delicacy anymore. One of the drawbacks of growing older...

    1. Daddy Hawk - you know how thrilled i have always been for you and the Queen and the whole situation with M&M!!! but our fostering/adoption process up here is a real nightmare, not that yours isn't, but we would probably end up heartbroken like a lot of people we knew who went through the process were. and to put it bluntly, we are considered too old. but i loved following the adventure of you guys getting M&M and will continue to love following the rest of the adventure. thank you so much for your comment and for your prayers and good thoughts. our best wishes to you and yours, always. xoxo

    2. Considered too old???? What bunch of Godless commies decided that? Abraham and Sarah had a kid in their 90s (yes, I believe what the Bible says...no, I don't think it's a metaphor). All things are possible with God unless we give up. I had resigned myself to a life without children. The Queen refused to let go and give up. Thanks to her, we were blessed with M&M. The potential heartache is worth the reward.

  11. I have been married to long to faint dead away. A raised eyebrow will suffice!

I guess things will work out as they were meant to. You have a good life up there, and are one of the happiest couples I know. Either way, I think you will continue to be.

    1. Harry - you know what a good life we have up here and we are very grateful just to have each other and be in such a wonderful community. one of our friends' daughters calls us her 2nd mom and dad - except that we are cool, too - bahahahah! oh i love that! and our neighbour's boys feel like they are our nephews - so we are not lacking for "children". as well, our friend s's daughters feel like our neices. we have children of all ages around us so we are not hurting. what hurts is when JUGM's auntie is so late visiting - you can't help yourself but think "maybe" - ya know. anyway, i'm glad i didn't cause you to faint. but it's true - you've been married too long AND raised kids so you understand. thank you , my friend. much love to you and yours always! xoxoxo

    2. I think you should get a ferret! Except maybe your cats wouldn't like him or her. However, I doubt the cats would be happy about a baby in the house. Have you ever heard the old wives tale that cats will creep into the crib and 'steal the babies breath away?" There are still people here in the mountains who believe that. They also believe things like you can get pink eye if someone who has it looks at you.

      Delete
    3. Harry - i told you before that i have never known anyone with a ferret so knew very little about them before meeting you. the pics that you post and the stories you tell of all of their "antics" make me really want to get a colony. but, as i said before, the ferrets would probably eat these fat, lazy, spoiled cats.

and yes, i have heard that old wives tale. in fact, i've known people who got rid of their cats when they were having a baby for that very reason!!! i thought they were awful for doing so.

  13. Sweet Kymber,

They say when you're thinking and trying to have a child you put stress on your body in turn, you won't get pregnant and good old Aunt JUGM appears or acts radically. So no more hard thinking or strange scenarios for you two, just plain old fun and enjoyment and when you least expect it things may happen.

Now if you want, I can send you a child no longer in diapers, or feeding from a bottle. He's fully grown, and can help you on homestead.............attitude included Bahahahahaha!!!!

    Love you both,
    Sandy

as for sending us your baby - make sure to send him with his truck - we could use that thing up here and all of his equipment. and he could help us build an extension on the house in no time. so yes, please send him - bahahahahah! much love always to you and all of yours Sweet Sandy! xoxoxxo
