what a wonderful way to start thanksgiving day - this pic was taken for my sweet Helga just before sunrise this morning:
it was a very beautiful way to start the day! it is now sunny and blue and we are doing a few projects around the house before heading off to our friend's C and B's house for thanksgiving dinner. after that, we are off to the Fourchu community centre dance - it should be a blast.
here's another beautiful sky pic for Helga!
tomorrow we are off to our other friends' C and G for thanksgiving dinner with them and their family - yummeh - bring on the turkey and the smashed and gravy! i love smash and gravy! my fave food below - roast baby!
my second fave food - bulgogi!!!
my new third fave food - Tom Yung Goong soup - talk about medicine in a bowl!
monday we are off to our friends' daughter's birthday party - wow! it is going to be a loooong weekend. but it will be nice to see and friends and share thanksgiving meals and give thanks together.
i have much to be thankful for this thanksgiving. so very much.

ReplyDeleteDFW - you would have been so proud of me! 3 full plates of turkey and all the fixin's at the first dinner...and the next day, 2 full plates of food at the second dinner - bahahahahah!
DeleteHappy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you, too Wendy! i hope you do a post about what you guys had for dinner!
DeleteEnjoy the day/weekend, both of you. But be careful not to eat yourself out of your bunny ears.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you both.
Winston
Winston, buddy, i kind of overate myself out of my bunny ears but a couple of rounds of harvesting potatoes should let me be able to squeeze back in! hugs from both of us back to you, always!
DeleteI had absolutely forgotten that Thanksgiving in Canada was this week. Have a wonderful time, my friends !
ReplyDeleteJane - it has been wonderful, sad, wonderful but such is the cycle of life right? you'll see what i mean by my updated post. however, we have had 2 wonderful dinners with 2 wonderful families and we were able to participate in trying to save a life. we are very humbled and very grateful!
DeleteHave a wonderful weekend and it is ok to eat yourself into oblivion on special occasions!
ReplyDeletejohnnyb - jambaloney almost ate himself into oblivion - me, i only had 3 plates of food on the first day and only 2 plates the second day - bahahahahahah! i know my limits!
DeleteHappy Thanksgiving to both of you:) Our thanksgiving isn't till next month, but I'll just let you know now how thankful and happy I am that I met you - have a great weekend and enjoy your feasts!
ReplyDeleteMM - when i said my prayers before each meal - you and your family were named as things that i am grateful for this year. it has been a wonderful thing getting to know you - and an absolute joy watching the antics of all of your muddy crew and the adventures that you guys call "living" up there on the mountain! we have loved every minute of it!
DeleteHope you have a lovely holiday! the rat
ReplyDeleteMr. Rat - it had it's high points and low points but such is life. we had a lovely time with our friends and wonderful meals but we lost a member of our community and that is a sad thing.
DeleteThem dishes look a little bald. Or, you need to dish it up on smaller plates. I'm the type to fill my plate to over flowing. Then I don't have to go back for seconds. LOL!
ReplyDeleteHope that you both have a great Thanksgiving.
bahahahahahahahahah! bald???? i'm thinking yer looking a little bald - bahahahahahah! i read Kathi's update and i promise to get over and leave a comment!

DeleteSweet Kymber and Jambaloney,
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you and all of your Canadian family and friends. Turkey and smashed potatoes sounds great, can I come too, hehehehehehe......
What beautiful sky pictures, our skies today are dark and remind me of snow. It's cold enough to wear heavier coats, tonight it will freeze with frost on the ground.
Have a fabulous weekend. Sending love your way :-)
Your Friend,
Sandy
Sweet Sandy - you are always welcome to come with us to our different friends' houses and fill up on turkey and smashed - like always. the people here are wonderful and they will love you!!! i am sorry that your skies were dark and reminding you of snow - we are still enjoying sunny blue skies with gorgeous weather. sending love back from both of us!
DeleteI wish you both a happy Thanksgiving, but DARN, I wish you'd quit making me hungry! ;-)
ReplyDeletethank you so much Mr. Smythe...and i am sorry to be making you hungry! you need to come up and let me fix you your favourite meal!
Deleteexpect something soon
ReplyDeleteWildflower
Wildflower - i can't wait for it buddy! thanks so much!
DeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you both and all of your friends and family. Eat some good food for us and we'll be sure to do the same next month when ours roles around!
ReplyDeleteMany hugs to you both,
1st and 2nd :-)
1st Man - between me and jambaloney we have already eaten yours and 2nd Man's share of Canadian AND American thanksgiving - bahahahahahahah! we are actually having our thanksgiving dinner on American thanksgiving because we get invited out on our actual holiday. and we'll eat enough for both of you again...no worries on that - bahahahahahah!
DeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you!
ReplyDeleteWish we could celebrate it at the same time. Being in the northern part of the U.S., the harvest is already done here too. The bounty of the harvest will not be so fresh in a month's time.
Those seeds you sent still haven't arrived. Maybe they will get here by next spring, but I fear they have been swallowed by someone's bureaucracy on which end no one knows.
thank you Mrs. S! if i were you, i would celebrate on Canadian thanksgiving - we won't mind! we actually celebrated thanksgiving on the American holiday last year because we forgot Canadian thanksgiving - bahahahah! and this year, we will celebrate our own thanksgiving meal on the American holiday because we were invited out all weekend.
Deletegosh darn! i have sent seeds to several people in the states - some received them and some didn't. i will resend and hope that you enjoy my surprise seeds!
Hope you are enjoying your whirlwind :-) Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteSue hon, as you will see in my update post, it has been a joyous and sad weekend. but through it all we have learned that all of these friends of ours really care about us. and us about them. xoxo
DeleteWow sounds like you are having an action packed weekend! Have fun! Or is it over in Canada??
ReplyDeleteJoey buddy - it has been really action packed. here in Canada the actual holiday is on Monday. but different families will have their celebration on the friday, the saturday, the sunday or the monday. everyone coordinates with each other so that everyone can hit up 4 different celebrations during the weekend - bahahahahah! we're smart like that!
DeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you both!
ReplyDeleteI don't know anything about Canadian Thanksgiving. Is it celebrated in a similar way to U.S. Thanksgiving? Food, fun. friends, family and football? It always seems so strange in a wonderful sort of way that there is a feast day here in the states where nearly everyone in the country eats the same meal! I hope you will tell us a little about your traditions.
thanks very much Janet! our thanksgiving is very similar to yours! we have fun, food, friends and it is a celebration of the harvest and the beginning of autumn. lots of folk up in Canada do the football thing as well...but not so much here on the island. we eat turkey with stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, carrots and turnip, sweet potatoes, pumpkin pies, lots of different pickles and chutneys and relishes - very similar to what you guys eat down there!
Deletewe'll be celebrating our own thanksgiving dinner on American thanksgiving because we were invited out this year.
Have you ever added the Korean apple/pear to the bulgogi?
ReplyDeleteThe soup is a favorite. I'd not had it til a local restaurant owned by a Thai lady started serving it with all orders, just a little appetizer portion. It was so popular it's know on the main menu.
Have a wonderful holiday!
Brigid - lots of people make bulgogi a variety of ways. i make it the authentic and traditional way that my korean teacher taught me - and that ALWAYS MUST INCLUDE shredded Asian pear!!! (woops sorry about the screaming. i can just hear her voice in my head! bahahahahahah!)
Deleteyes, that soup is to die for! i make a big batch and then we eat it for breakfast once trout season is over. it is so filled with health and good - i am glad that you have a restaurant to get it from. you should make your own. yell if you want the recipe!
