sorry to have been away but i know that you all understand!!!

i haven't been around the interwebs very much for about a week - but i know that you all understand! ya know, hubby came back from the city, i layed on him on the kitchen floor for 3 straight days without either of us moving (no Rob, buddy - not THAT! just laying on top of him and hugging him!!!)

then there was the usual catching up on watering and starting new building projects and of course the river!!!

i have tried to make it through everyone's latest posts - the terribly, sad event in Colorado, of course, leaves our hearts heavy. but we have been praying for everyone that was affected by this senseless event, whether they were in the theater or not, and will continue to do so.

what do you have for breakfast when there are no fresh trout and the frozen ones will take too long to defrost? well, of course, spaghettini with olive oil, garlic and delicious fresh basil!!!! oh man - this was so yummy!!!

check out my beautiful amaranth!!!! i have never grown it before so i started it in pots - but it needs it's own huggie kultur soon! i can't believe how beautiful it is!

and here's my day-lillies growing by the apple trees. and a hosta that's gone to flower. both will be transplanted in the fall and seeds will be gathered from both. they are kind of strangling one of the apple trees. we are clearing the whole area where the 2 tiny apple trees grow. still no sign of apples but we hope that there will be some one of these years!

woohoo! nasturtiums are starting to flower. back in the city, i had nasturtiums that were almost as tall as me! echinnacea too! but starting over from scratch means starting over from scratch. so i will have to be patient and wait for these beauties to grow! the flowers are delicious and soooo spicey! want an awesome appetizer made from nasturtium flowers, cream cheese and smoked salmon? go here.

crap. just talking about the nasturtiums and smoked salmon made me cut and copy this pic. if you want the recipe - go here.

look at this tiny, tiny, primrose growing down at the river. so delicate.

river? did someone say river? yer darn tootin's baby! we went for a couple of swims before jambaloney left on his trip but we have been down daily since he got back. the weather has been perfect even though the water is still only a few degrees above freezing - brrrrrrrrrr - can you say brrrrrrrrr? i am talking freezing. we don't care tho - we love the river!

here's our usual setup down at the river - our blankets, towels, books, and lunch on the cooler.

lunch was a quinoa (pronounced keen-wa) salad, some carrot sticks, sweet pickled onions, pickled beets, green and black olives, some sliced pepperoni, old cheddar and mozarella - yummeh!

look at that gorgeous clear blue sky! and that gorgeous, mineral-filled water of the river! every time i take a dive i make sure to drink some! hey - there's jambaloney enjoying the freezing water!

and that's me getting ready to go in! for the purposes of keeping this blog post PG-13 - i was sure to wear panties!

sploosh! man that water is freezing and refreshing! i have to sit in the hot sun for at least 30 minutes before i dare take a dive!

hey - that's me - wishing that you all were here with us. but just know that we keep you all in our hearts when we are down at the river.

Helga - it's supposed to be another scorcher tomorrow. get your bathing suit and towel ready girl...we're going swimming again!

    1. bahahahahahhahaha! ok hon - just between you and me - maybe it wasn't 3 whole days but that's our story and we're sticking to it - don't tell anyone else k? bahahahahah! that river is so refreshing and it is constantly fed by the ocean - the ocean tides actually come up as far as where we are and farther - it is a very clean river! but, where we walk out to dive in and a little farther, there is a ton of beautiful and delicious moss on the floor - jambaloney can't stand his feet getting in it - but he is a city boy! i love that moss on my feet. and yes - i drink gulps of water where the fish pee and poop. tell that to your gorgeous boys the next time they are acting up - bahahahahah! Oldest will probably faint! you would love the river JUGM...like love it!

    1. Max - i normally try to plan for our lunches a little better - like we were missing some artichokes and hearts of palm and we didn't have any berries. but we were in a rush to get down to the river. we tend to plan our days around getting up between 6-7, eating our breakfast, watering all of the garden, feeding cats, rubbing cats, doing whatever the cats want us to do, and then working on a job or two. by lunch, it's time to whip something together and afternoons are for the river.

buddy - make the concoction that i left for you on your blog - it's much better for you than gatorade. and then plan to come and visit us for some swims in the next year or so. you would love this water. it's definitely cold enough for your crazy *ss!

    2. The cats have you in a perfect pawsition!

I'm just crazy enough to do something like a visit to Canada, or even stop over on the way to Alaska.

    3. bahahahahah - they most certainly DO! buddy - if you ever went to Alaska for a visit and didn't stop in here - the friendship would definitely be over. just sayin'!

  3. Hey sis - Beautiful blue sky and water ! I like your picnic set up - but where's the new towels !?!? Crack those suckers out and use them - they'll keep you nice and warm after the frigid waters.

Your lunch is divine - I'll bring my wet suit and towel for a one second dip for sure ! Bahahahah ! Thanks for the invite.

    Have an awesome weekend !

    Love you lots ... xoxoxoxo

    1. hey sis - as you probably have already guessed - all of the beautiful skies are named "Helga" - bahahahahahah! i'm not very imaginative eh? oh crap sis - those beautiful towels that you sent us will get all wrecked down at the river - we are currently using those when we hose each other down with the backyard hose and using them when we get out of the fancy "pool" and we use them after the hottub - those towels are just waaaaay too fancy to use at the river!!! and waaaaay too pretty!

hon - that water is so cold i don't know if you could handle even a one second dip. but you could probably walk in up to your knees. and that would cool you down.

honey - you are always invited and you know that! have a fantastic sunday me darlin. you know how loved you are! xoxoxoxo

    1. Joey - i would love to hold you down on the kitchen floor for 3 days and hug you...oh crap - now i am the one sounding like the perv. i don't mean it in any pervy way and if you would be more comfortable on the couch we could do it there...and watch some good movies. but ya buddy - i'm a hugger. i hope we can still keep the friendship.

oh dude. i gotta get you over here for a decent meal one of these days. really. like during one of your jaunts to arizona. i could even hire you for a community event for like 17.56 British pounds. you can see how it would really be worth your while. bahahahahahahah!

  6. Sweet Kymber,

I love the pictures girl!!! It's so pretty there, I wish we were there to enjoy your weather and water.
Have you ever had garlic pasta? The sauce is fresh or diced tomatoes, olive oil, fresh basil chopped, fresh garlic chopped and mix (add salt and pepper to taste. Then a little sugar to cut the acid in the tomato).Cook your pasta, place pasta on a plate, add a little sauce over hot pasta (don't heat your sauce) and add a little mozzarella cheese. It's amazing and fresh tasting.

Bulldog Man and I make lunch or a dinner like your picnic at the river when it's really hot outside. This way we don't heat up the house too much.

Have a great evening, I need to go get changed. Going to the state park to meet friends, they came in with their trailer. Their passing through to Wisconsin.

    Your Friend, Sandy xoxoxo

    1. sweet Sandy - i knew that you would love the pics. my friend SciFiChick left a comment for me on her blog saying that she was a closet lover of the sky pics. i told her that you, Helga, Jane and PracticalP came out of the closet and that she could too - bahahahahahahah! i wish you were here to enjoy this gorgeous weather too - never too hot, always enough rain and beautiful blue skies to just daze off into daydreaming land. and lots of salty, clean air to breathe. Sandy - we do many versions of pasta - sometimes with tomatoes, sometimes not but ALWAYS with a ton of garlic!!! thanks for your recipe - we will be sure to try it and love it!

oh i hope that you had a wonderful time meeting up with your friends - update us all on your blog eh? xoxoxox

    2. Sweet Kymber,
We had a great time with old friends. They we're on their way to Wisconsin and decided to park their RV in a state park not to far from our house for the night. So we went out to the park and visited for a couple of hours. Great fun!

I love pasta dishes, there so easy to make :-) and always delishes.

  7. Jamby - Maybe you could make some sort of Kymber sling type thing and just kinda carry her around with you so you can get some work done around the place.

It might make public appearances a bit awkward though :)

    1. thanks PP, buddy - we have a million things to do around the house and u-no-hoo is out there trying to make a kymber sling type thing out of the fire hose he got at the fire hall. and although i always support every one of my man's endeavours - this one looks like it's sure to fail! you knob (pronounced Ka-nob)!

  10. How exciting for you. I'm glad y'all have been reunited and it sounds like you've had fun. That picnic sounds and looks wonderful. Nearly freezing water? Is that normal this time of year? What is your air temp now? I'm not sure I could handle more than a couple minutes, lol.

OH, and if someday the stars align and we somehow met in person, I'm a hugger too. And warn Jambaloney that I'm an equal gender hugger! :-)

    1. hey buddy - i am exaggerating a little about the freezing temps of the water - well actually, no, i am not! the water is about 17C (60F) and it will get warmer from now and through the month of august. our air temps are mid to high 20'sC (70-80F). the air temps are perfect swimming temps....30 mins in the sun and you want to get in the cool...um...freezing cold water. but it is so refreshing when you are laying out in the sun for a bit. we take dips and swim just about every 30 mins - it's so awesome! if you were here i would drag you in with us - bahahahahah!

i hope those stars align someday - that would be really nice to hug in person even though we have already internet hugged. no worries about jambaloney. he's gotten used to hugging other men because that's what the men here do when they meet. they call it a man hug. they put one arm around the other guys shoulder and bump. come to think of it - my friends Stephen, Duke, Senior, MDR, Matt, Max, North and a bunch of other internet tough men do the same. oh i love the men here and how they treat each other. am i rambling?

  12. You have earned what you have. So many people waste their lives wishing for what you have, as if "wishing" got you there.

Physically, you are in great shape. Emotionally, each of you is the other's sanity.

Joe and I are now old and out of shape, which the two of you will never be. Always young at heart and mind, with good health due to your constant surveillance.

You worked hard for your blessings and had the knowledge to know what to aim for. None of it was based on luck. I still can't help having a twinge of wistful envy.

    1. dearest, sweetest one - we would always have you and lunch would always be whatever you wanted. i would so love to cook you a fantastic lunch that included sausage gravy and biscuits, bourbon bread pudding, bacon, chili, and anything else that your heart would desire. i wouldn't even get a chance to swim with you - jambaloney would have you out in that canoe so fast i wouldn't even be able to take my shoes off. and you guys would be gone for hours fishing. and i know that you and he would love that - and i would just wait till you guys got back. wouldn't even matter if you caught any fish.

  16. Well woman, Jambe sent me a note soon as he got back and I told him you were more important than me and he needed to take care of you first. Now I know the reason for the long silence. C'mon, break out the key and release him from that log chain, HE wants to talk to me.

Meanwhile I have to laugh anew at your giggle about having a "hot" day while I sit here baking at 42 C once again. And the AC died yesterday.

    Hugs to you both.
