roast. i want some slow-cooker roast!

i am dying for a plate of that right now! i am starving and it's my own stupid fault for not eating. but i just can't seem to be bothered to eat when my baby is gone. but, i just spoke to him and promised that i would eat. so i took some hamburger out of the freezer and will cook it up - maybe just eat it as is. who knows these things?

i spent several hours yesterday talking to my dear friend Helga - i so love talking with her. she is such a genuine person and means the world to me. i also talked again with her son, Connor - thanks so much for that Connor - i really like talking with you. and i even got to talk to Helga's awesome husband, A - that was a real treat - he is such an awesome guy! thanks to all 3 of you for keeping me so occupied!

jambaloney had a wonderful time yesterday. he went up to his Dad's for lunch and had a nice visit. then he went to his Mom's fishing camp, helped his Step-Dad work on his cottage and then the 3 of them went fishing. his Step-Dad, Ted, caught 2 big bass which they ate for supper. this morn, they have just finished breakfast and are doing some stuff around the camp and then the big meeting is at 11am (about an hour and a half from now). then they plan on spending the rest of the day doing some work and then more fishing. he is looking forward to more fishing with his parents - he really had a good time fishing with them yesterday.

i have already been out and fed the birds and watered the gardens. it's a real scorcher today - it's already 23C and it's only 10:30!!!! i am thinking i might head down to the river for a swim in a bit....but i'll have to wear clothes just in case. when i am with jambaloney, i take clothes in a bag. we've never encountered anyone when we've gone swimming but it would be just my luck to be down there naked and meet up with someone eh?

anyway, only today and tomorrow and then he's home tomorrow night at 1am. i can't wait. i hope that you are all having a great sunday! thanks so much for all of your support and positive comments for the last 2 days - it really has helped me and i really appreciate it!

    1. thanks so much JUGM - it means a lot! i can't wait till he gets home!!! i didn't make it down to the river - there was some work being done somewhere(?) with trucks backing up and doing the beeping thing. i am hoping that it was the county out fixing the clogged area where the river empties into the ocean. but if i do go down i will definitely wear clothes. xoxox

  3. I know how you feel. I've been reduced to eating smoked oysters (out of the can) and English muffins. I miss my Sweet Wife. Hang in there but you do need to eat.

  4. Kinda the same way about eating myself. Just too busy to bother so I usually just eat supper at the end of the day. Which last night was, by the way... roast! With the fixin's you pictured and more. My wife throws taters, carrots, onions, and celery with the roast in the crock pot. I like to put a couple slices of bread on my plate and heap all that good stuff on top. As you say, "yummeh!" : )

    1. oh Craig buddy, a man's gotta get at least some breakfast in him to work a full day!!! ack - you had roast! dang nabbit - i love roast in the crockpot with all of the fixings!!! i also love to have some bread with it. whenever we have roast, we love picking at the leftovers for the rest of the night. jambaloney takes the roast and veg and makes a sandwich. not me - i always go back for more smashed potatoes and gravy - i loooooove smashed potatoes!!!!

  5. Without Joe, I wouldn't eat, sleep, bathe or bother opening the curtains.

But here's the unavoidable truth: Women are introspective and emotional. Men are 'doers'.

While we wait and pace, men do what they went to do, concentrate on the here and now, then come home.

I know they, at some moments during the day, miss us...but they don't go all medieval on themselves like we do.

    1. lotta joy - i think we might be the same people. talking to jambaloney on the phone this morning, i was explaining that i can barely make myself water the garden, feed the birds and feed the cats. and he said that if he was here and i was gone that he would tinker around and just do little jobs and whatnot. i can't even make myself do the dishes!!!!

i was planning to finish some painting and organizing and stuff when he was gone but that was when we thought he was going next week. his sudden departure just kind of threw me and i am getting nothing done.

i think you are dead right in the way that men and women operate. and thank you again for the gorgeous portrait of jambaloney - i am off to do a post about it right now!

    1. dear sweet sis - i held off calling you tonight because of your poor swollen ear - bahahhahaha! we did have a marathon of a call but i thoroughly enjoyed it! i love yakking with you and i loved yakking with Connor and A, too. please be sure to thank them for me!

i made some quick throw-together chili and it sucked. normally i spend all day making my chili but i just threw it together. it tasted bland but i ate a bowl of it. i also just nibbled on some crackers. i think i will get a sandwich in a bit or maybe some toast.

once he's home tho - i will be stuffing my face! and with roast! i love roast!

thanks for the 18 hour visit hon - i enjoyed every second! love you forever! xoxoxo

  7. Sweet Kymber,

Wooohooo your on the countdown clock now. Jam will be home before you know it !!!!

The roast looks amazing, did you put it in the oven or a crock pot? Are the carrots and potatoes from your garden? I make smashed or mashed potatoes as a comfort food. I guess I could say, you made your comfort food to hold you over until Jambaloney is home. I'm glad to hear he is enjoying his trip to see the folks. I know he misses you as much as you miss him.

Recommendation, I would wear clothes for your walk down to the lake. You just never know when you're going to run into someone or something. Who knows, you may run into someone else butt ass naked, Bahahahah!!!!!

    1. Sandy - he'll be home tonight at 1am which is still another whole day away - i can't wait. i didn't make the roast - that's an old pic - but i wish i had have - then i could have nibbled on it while he was gone. oh well, we're having roast and all of the fixings tonight!!!

i normally buy cheap cuts of meat and then do them in the slow cooker - you just can't beat a roast that has been cooked for 8 hours. and no, those are not potatoes or carrots from the garden - too soon yet, although we might be able to get some baby potatoes pretty soon!!!

and yes, he is having a really nice visit so i am glad. i didn't go down to the river but no worries - i will wear clothes. oh and apparently one of the "cottagers" (those are people that don't live here full-time) walks around in the buff all the time - bahahahahah!

  9. I am glad to here that good ol' Jam is having good visits, and I know he will be home before you know it. He has you waiting for him, in the most beautiful province known to man. (Sorry Ontario, sorry Quebec, Sorry British Columbia and all the others......but Nova Scotia is the best, and Cape Breton Island is even better. How many islands have their own inland sea ? Cape Breton does ! Kymber, you will just keep the home fires burning, and with an uncharacteristic 23 degrees C, in Nova Scotia, the weather is trying to help you, burn a bit, that is ! Love to you, my friend.
