dang nabbit!

i am supposed to be at something called a "scentsy" party in an hour. something about smelly candles and things. my friend S invited me. a party for just the girls. when she invited me she said "you HAAAVE to get away from him some of the time!!!"

no, i don't. i have been unwell for 4 full days now and the only thing that has kept me fed and hydrated is my jambaloney. i hate putting this kind of pressure on him - but he is the only person i trust when i am feeling so incapacitated.

i had to cancel going to the scentsy party. i am just not up for it. migraine sufferers usually have a problem with light, sound and...well...smells.

if you are interested, a gentleman who is also known as my friend Duke has an excellent post up about the importance of training with weapons, and not the kind of training where you go to the range on a saturday afternoon with your starbucks and golf buddies. i hope that any of you who are interested will read...and learn.

i gotta run. but thankfully the migraine is now just a headache. thank you for all of your well wishes. especially Matt and North. thanks buddies.

  1. :D Yeah, a Scentsy Party would not have helped a headache not just because of the smell, but the price is outrageous. I went into shock when I saw the cost of them, but felt obligated to buy something so...I own two burners from Scentsy.

Scentsy sells electric burners that you melt wax in, but I swear they put off a much stronger scent throw than a candle. Did I ever telly you that I have a candle closet...no kidding...I love candles. LOL!

I am glad you're feeling a teeny-tiny bit better. Have a good weekend you two.

    Love

    1. Fel - i heard from some other people that the scentsy stuff is pretty expensive - i guess the migraine saved me some money as i would have felt obligated too!

and ya - you did tell me about your candle closet - bahahaha!

you have a great week, my friend!

  2. Here I drop by after days away and you get sick...sorry. If you can find a liquor store up there in the snowy northwoods, get a bottle of Southern Comfort. Warm it and drink the entire bottle. I swear, the headache will fade away, or at least you'll not remember it. Sorry, sweet girl.

  4. My guess is that Duke does not make it into too many posts that include the subject of scented candle parties! LOL.

I am getting hives and sneezing just thinking about it.

  10. Anything that has to do with scents is off limits for me. Stay away if you already have a headache. I would have gotten a migraine just thinking about having to go there. Get better.

  11. No, you certainly can't go to a "scent party" of any kind with even a waning migraine. That would be like accepting a job operating a jackhammer while having sinusitis ! I hope you are as right as rain very soon.

  12. Migraines are a nightmare. Personally I can't think of anything worse than a party just for girls, or one just for boys for that matter, I prefer to have a mix of genders myself. :)

    Get well soon!

    1. Joey - i don't like gender parties either. but since we are still new here and still meeting new people and the woman hosting the party is someone from our neighbouring community, it was a chance to get to meet some new women. thanks buddy!

  13. Migraines, yuck! I take 1000mg of Ibuprophen up to three times to knock out headaches. If that doesn't work, I start mixing in Tylenol and caffeine. There's nothing worse than trying to "ride out" a migraine/headache.

Anyway, your story of someone telling you that you needed to get away from your man reminds me of a best friend I had to abandon years ago. After I met my wife and returned to visit my old friend, he kept telling me we needed to go out and party and leave the women at home. I didn't agree with that then, and I don't agree with it now. There's not very many things that I want to do without my wife. We do just about everything together.

Hope you find a good remedy for your pain.

    1. Jeep Dad - you tell it, Sir! woohoo! thank you for sharing your story. me and jambaloney pretty much do everything together and i am glad to hear that you and your wife are the same. he is my best friend, my partner and my confidante. i can't think of anything that i want to do without him.

i have tried a variety of medicines and pills and herbal remedies and whatnot - nothing seems to work. i actually do just ride them out and it sucks! i'll try your combination on the next one i get.

again, thanks for sharing your story. i really appreciate it!

  14. Kymber - No way ! I've been knocked out all week with a whopper migraine from hell too. Glad you never went to the scentsy party ! You saved yourself from further pain - in your head as well as your wallet.

Get well real quick my friend ... healing vibes sent your way. I hope you guys have a great week-end - and a big hug to Jambaloney for being such a terrific support to you !

  17. Jambaloney sounds like my Reno-man. When I'm really unwell no one else will do. I love it when he sits close and plays quiet tunes on his guitar until I fall asleep. I'm sure that wouldn't be good for migraines, but it works for my ailments :-) I hope headache leaves you soon.

  19. All of those scents seriously make me nauseous! I don't blame you for not going, especially with a migraine... they are very unmerciful!

And I completely know what you mean about not having to be away from your man! Although we aren't able to be together every minute of the day, the time we aren't together is spent wishing that we were!

Hope that nasty headache is completely gone soon!

  20. mmasse - you are dead right! smells, lights and sound bother me when i have a migraine or feel one coming on. i don't get the flashes but know a lot of people who do. mine start with a slow creeping of tension up my spine that i don't realize until my head starts pounding.

anyway, thanks for the kind words. i appreciate it, my friend!

  21. I wound up with a migraine about when my first set of papers came due...they suck. Bad. All I can do is about 1100 mg naproxin sodium (Aleve) over the course of the day, maximum dose of extra strength Tylenol, a lot of caffeine, and (for me) a heat pad on the part of my head that hurts the worst.

I normally wind up with a cat on the heat pad on my head, but since that helps, I can't complain.

I'm sorry you got one, but am glad you're over it now. I know what you mean about your man taking care of you--Odysseus and I are exactly the same way.
