still no staying snow!
it's February 17th and still no staying snow - can you say woohoooooo?!?!?!?! anyway, just wanted to share the pretty blue sky with my friends Jennifer, Helga and Linda (Practical Parsimony).
here it is a dreary, gray, kind of breezy, misty, chilly day, kind of matches everyones somber mood today in my area. : ( So much for "Sunny Florida" !
JUGM - ya, when it is dreary and gray - it really affects people's moods. we have been incredibly fortunate that over this winter so far, we have mostly sunny, clear, bright, blue days. i used to hate 5 and 6 days in a row of dreary and gray back in the city. so much for sunny Florida is right! i hope it clears and you get some really nice sunny days soon!
Flier - a lot of people think that we get brutal winters here - but we don't - we are in an amazing little micro-climate! something to do with the Gulf Stream hitting our tiny part of the island before heading further north to europe. we love this little crazy place that we live in. and to be honest, buddy, i am itching for summer too. don't have to wear clothes ya know?
mmasse - because we have soooo much available water and the island is surrounded by water - i have the tendency to not think or worry about water. and i forget that for others this is not the case. i feel terrible when i remember that no staying snow will affect the water tables for others. my friend, Winston, is worried about the water tables too.
PracticalP - i know that you always notice the skies in my pics so i made sure to point this out to you! i am glad that you have daffodils and that the hens are loving the weather - xox!
We have sun here in Orlando, :). You know that means a wet summer for everyone. But look at Europe, Alaska, and Japan, snow and bitter cold. 650 have died in Europe alone because of the cold.
Oh this doom and gloom was brought to you as a free service of me your internet smart ass. :)
Kymber - Oh my ... just what I needed ! However did you know ? That blue sky is certainly what I needed to see today. Our area got hit with the biggest dump of snow yesterday since 1973 ! We just got back from town and the roads are all sloppy and ugly. It's not cold ... actually +5, and the big melt is on. Cape Breton skies are the BEST ! And so are you !
Thanks for the pic ... I'll be staring at it til my eyes fall out. Well, maybe not - don't want that migraine back any time soon.
Have a super week-end you guys and enjoy your beautiful landscape !
oh Helga - i am so sorry that you got dumped on again! we just got about 10cms of snow today but it should be gone in about a day or two. Cape Breton skies are really the best - you would so love it here!!! i won't lay off until you come for a visit and then decide to move here - bahahahah! did i tell you that we have a bunch of Germans with cottages here? i don't think that i did...
anyway - you have a super weekend too! i promise that we will be enjoying our beautiful landscape in the hottub all weekend long! xoxoxoxo
Well Bunny Ears, it is warming up nicely now. Lots of sun. Peas are up and looking for the lattice. Cabbages are now making their inner leaf rolls. Spinach not waiting for anybody. And I am back on nightly slug patrol.
Send me some rain. Weather moron keeps saying there will be more, but every time a storm comes through we can almost count the drops. 41% now. Summer will be a killer.
Dear sweet Winston - jambaloney is on his way on the ATV with a trailer full of snow. and i am doing nightly rain-dances under the moon. i promise you will get more rain my dear friend. i promise!
We have not yet had anything but a dusting of snow this year in our part of rural mountainous Virginia. However, we are expecting as much as a foot on Sunday. Of COURSE I have an important appointment on Monday morning ! This is just the way the cookie crumbles.
oh crap Jane! it always "pours" when you have an appointment or something! we just got 10cms but it should be gone in a day or two so jambaloney doesn't have to plow it as we don't have anywhere to go this week. i hope that you get less snow than predicted and i hope that you get to your appointment without any trouble. xox always to you!
Now that it is almost passed, I can't believe that I'm about to say this but I kind of missed winter. Mostly I miss sitting in front of a roaring fireplace while a blizzard is raging outside. A warm sunny day with brown grass everywhere just doesn't feel the same way.
hay Ed - glad to see you back again! i hear you about missing winter - i love all seasons! but we have had a very normal winter here so far - it snows and we see all the pretty white and bundle up and make a stew - and then it goes after a couple of days. that's how i like my winters!
Oh I've been here all along. It is just that I have a hard time leaving comments if I can't add something and your posts haven't been ones that I could add too. Rest assured though I have and do read every one.
