Nova is one of my favorite programs to watch and when I have the time and it looks interesting, I watch the Nature program which happened to be about Coywolfs. It was fun when they mentioned Cape Breton Island and I could say that I knew some people who lived there!Edhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13214319366049620074noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3136150101440535605.post-40601538115119493362014-01-28T18:05:29.807-04:002014-01-28T18:05:29.807-04:00Ed - yes we have the hybrid coywolfs here on the i...Ed - yes we have the hybrid coywolfs here on the island - it's so interesting that you were watching a show about them! a bit of a history lesson for you, because i know that you are interested in this kind of stuff - about 100yrs ago, the only native big animals on our island were timberwolves and moose. the moose are still here but the timberwolves were completely hunted out. the white tailed deer were introduced in the early 1900's by hunters and proliferated on the southern half of the island. eastern coyotes (what you call coywolfs) arrived on the island in the late 1970's by crossing the ice-covered canso straight. these coyotes had travelled to the nova scotian mainland from quebec/new brunswick and these are the coywolfs that you mention. they are a mix of western coyote and surviving eastern wolf populations. these coywolfs are indeed very smart, and tend to stay away from any human-populated areas. we saw coyote tracks once at our river, and saw one scared coyote pup at the top of our river road once....but that is all that we have seen in 4 winters of being here. they really keep to themselves. i hope you enjoyed this little bit of history.kymberhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02607117635648274823noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3136150101440535605.post-35428141071564455232014-01-28T16:53:57.251-04:002014-01-28T16:53:57.251-04:00Say what ? shoveling snow for cats ? oh well. I have to agree with Senior!!!!

I think your cats are looking to see who can get on the laptop after Jambaloney uses it because it's nice and warm, and then it's sitting on the table giving them access to a beautiful view outside, and the delicious food you make. :-)

Your cats are bigger than Beans........I think Beans would be worried they would kick his hiney, Bahahahahahahaha......

Your pepper plants are doing pretty good through the winter next to the window. I bet your going to have tons of peppers come harvest time.

The tomato tires and cages do look like pieces of art in the yard. Snow and ice can make so many things look like art. Hopefully, your snow and ice will clear a bit to make it more comfortable for getting around on the property and in town. This arctic air is kicking our butts down here. The weather was beautiful over the weekend, we even went fishing but didn't catch a fish. Lot's of bites and bait stealer's but nothing to bring home and cook up :-( Then late last night the weather took a major change, temperatures dropped dramatically. The wind picked up, this morning it was 9 degrees out, and this afternoon temperatures peak to 26 degrees with high winds.

Being prepared gives us all the confidence needed to get through these cold winters and any foreseen disaster.

Keep warm, and have fun with your friends.
Sending hugs and love to the both of you.
Sandy Sandy Livesayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06183449816586125720noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3136150101440535605.post-85573450791223385342014-01-27T12:47:19.317-04:002014-01-27T12:47:19.317-04:00I often wonder if you could serve a periodic banqu...I often wonder if you could serve a periodic banquet up your way and charge for each plate.
